It's definitely the upper torso, like, the shoulders and everything. He look like an action figure more than an actual being and it's kind of uncanny valley... but... I also dig it? Like, he says a magic word to become a superhero, so, wouldn't coming out looking like an action figure actually make perfect sense?

Captain Marvel looks like even more of an action figure than Turbo Man from Jingle All the Way.

The trailer looks... really good, actually. It could be terrible and cheesy like the 2000s Inspector Gadget, but it could really be good and I have faith in Chuck.

And Then There Were None is just a delight to read. How the isolation and murders created this sense of tension and dread and how the crime is seemingly unsolvable. Very enjoyable.

Oh yes, read this last year. Extremely good. Umineko took a lot of flavor from it.

Favorite Book: Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

- It's one hell of a dark comedy with a huge cast of misfit soldiers during World War II.

As fast as this is blowing up, I'm also cautious to jump heavily on those connections at this time. For a very heavy, heavy Trump-Russia week, a huge upswell of "Bernie is bad too, look look" seems like a calculated strategy of distraction and dissent.

Tad Levine doesn't look good at all, and I can definitely see using the Sanders campaign to undermine the Clinton, but this feels like another shiny object, or the scumteam jumping on someone who's been very town all game and trying to get the votes and attention on him.

it's really interesting how many people say civil war sucked because there was no debate since Iron Man was so obviously correct but... I think Iron Man was wrong!

Both sides were done pretty well.

Pssh. Who cares about the Sokovia accords?

It's about loss and how individuals deal when important people in their lives pass away.

How Cap loses the love of his life and the future past he never had, and the struggles he would go through to protect and fight for the ideals they share and the common people they know. He holds on.

How Tony struggles to deal with the loss of his mother and things left unsaid, the absence of the rock in his life Pepper, the potential dissolution of the family he made with the Avengers, the accident that took out Rhodey, and when he finds out how his parents died and that his friend, the one who knew his father long before he did, kept this information for so long and chose someone over him, yet another person in his life tossing him aside. He acts out.

How T'Challa, in such a very short time, is the antithesis to Stark where he knows his father loves him, his father is proud of him, and knows his father knows that his son loves him and is proud of him in turn. He suffers loss, but isn't broken by it. He bends and seeks vengeance, but sees how destructive it is and how that is not a person his father would want him to be. He moves forward.

How we all know the story of Uncle Ben, and Peter is making sure he tries to do the best he can for his late father figure and be a force for good and responsibility.

How Zemo is haunted by the loss of his loved ones and seeks to do to the people that did this to him as much as he can to truly make them feel even a modicum of the damage they did to him. He is a driven villain who is in so much pain that he cannot grieve.

How Wanda loses control of her power (or wasn't able to sustain the explosion really) and is sheltered, protected, against her own will, unable to have any further agency of her own.

How Vision maintains that level of protection and overwatch, but when he is unable to protect the one he cares for, he loses control and doesn't aim his blast of emotion. His and Wanda's loss of control are mirrored in the damage their power has.

How Bucky loses his mind and is unable to control his actions.

Okay, I'm rambling, and it's not just about that. There's so mcuh more, but honestly, the Sokovia accords were, in my opinion, the weakest part of the movie and only a MacGuffin.

Winter Soldier is probably my favorite of the MCU movies, but Civil War is easily the most interesting. So many dynamics, so much to converse about, every character had arcs and subarcs and relationships that factored into decision-making and pathos and AHHH!

I love it.

There's so much time, my mind wandered into a scenario where it becomes a triple threat Iron Man match after some shenanigans.

And Ziggler and McIntyre shrug and give each other quick pins at the beginning to Rollins' bewilderment to give themselves early points and keep Rollins down, but Rollins stops it before they get more than 1 or 2 each.

Even better, bell rings and Rollins is staring them both down when suddenly Ziggler and McIntyre just start tearing into each other. Rollins is surprised, but obviously enjoying the two at each other's throats. Ziggler hits a Famouser, McIntyre doesn't kick out. Things reset, McIntyre takes out Ziggler and gets a pin. Rollins is eating this up. Ziggler up and takes out McIntyre with a superkick. Gets a pin. Rollins begins to come around to what the hell is going on when McIntyre superkicks back for a pin. Rollins interrupts the next one, shouting at them, and they both just have ****-eating grins holding up two fingers to each other, then a zero for Rollins.

Bludgeons took out Kane backstage. Bryan fought them 1-on-2. Kane hobbled out for the save but it wasnt enough. Bludgeons win

I honestly didn't expect that ending. There were two ways I saw it going after the backstage brawl:

1. Daniel Bryan is the tag team champions. Doesn't need Kane.
2. Bludgeon Brothers take apart Daniel Bryan after a really solid match.
3. Kane hobbles in (he does), tags himself in (he does), can't do his big moves with any power (pretty much), and takes the pinfall and enraging Daniel Bryan.

Kane coming out and trying to help PLUS a solid match with a clean finish for the BB? I'm legitimately surprised. Good for them.

I look at Braun's differently. He could have easily won, but he chose to lose in exchange for killing his opponent. It's not really the same thing. I still think it should be Rollins personally, but I'm guessing Lashley right now.

Yeah, I saw it as a frustrated Braun catching Kevin, and looking at him with utter disdain. "Fight Owens Fight? Coming into a cage with me with a 'fight anyone' shirt and all you're doing is trying to escape? If that's how you really want to win it, I'll make sure you know THERE IS NO ESCAPE"

- Hits could be much more devastating and lethal, and you'd need to act quickly to save everyone.

Hate: Slow Walk Areas (most recently seen in KotOR)
- There's an environment your character naturally shouldn't be able to traverse, but you can unequip everything and put on this environmental suit and slowly, slowly, slowly walk across a part of a map just to go an open a door.

30. Beat a game with a female lead.

Gone Home

- That was short but sweet. The only things I knew going in were that is was going to be fairly short, creepy house exploration, and not going to be what you expect it to be. It was right on all three counts. The first half of the game was definitely waiting for the other shoe to drop... dark and scary house, completely empty, noises in the walls, ghost stories about the uncle, secret panels, twitching and blinking out light bulbs, time travel fiction, nearly every single scrap of paper I could find dated no later than October 1994...

...and then, as the exploration continued and nothing jumped out (there were even hints of a cat and yet no jumping cat!), I began to really appreciate what kind of game it was. It really got that depth of fear and paranoia when going into an unknown place and things aren't what they'd seem. All the scary and tense moments had explanations: Sam is as bad as her sister at leaving lights on all over the house; it's old wiring so sometimes stepping a certain place shorts out a wire; mom and dad went on an anniversary trip and have been too busy to unpack or set up for Katie; the blood splatter is really hair dye) etc. There was so much minute lore that the place felt really lived in and you could get a good sense of who these absent characters were, what they liked, what they were going through, their pasts... it was keen. Sam's story and journal entries and the adventures of Captain Allegra (and her reproductive story)... that was fun. It subverted expectations of what a horror game can be, and I was very happy to have played it.

42. Beat a game with a Metascore above 90

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

- I think this is my second oldest Steam game after Team Fortress 2, and it only took me about nine years to beat it. It was interesting running down through old save files and seeing who I named my characters in the past: Tracy Mombaro (for Inviso), Ocean Delenn (a combo of CrimsonOcean and satai delenn), Maniacal Demigod (after Maniac & my Olympian Demigods from B8BL). It wasn't until I've actually played some D&D and understood AC, THACO, and how important battlefield control can be that I really made any major headway towards completion. This was the first playthrough I got on the Leviathan, went to Korriban, and definitely met the endgame. It was a very difficult but rewarding experience, even if I knew the big spoiler =P for almost a decade now.

Full Light Side game, really enjoyed the story and the planets visited. Again, felt like an awesome D&D campiagn now that I've gotten a better taste for that side of the Action RPG experience after raising myself on Secret of Mana and Tales of Symphonia where it's less putting focus on making sure you're prepared for the worst and more grinding until everything crumbles to dust at your feet. A level 20 capstone, limits to what you can put points into or equip, and planning for your path... it's relatively new and weird and I'm glad I got through it. It was a joy getting to see the big hype moments I missed my first few times. I still remember fondly things like finding Jolee for the first time or running around lost on Tatooine (it's not nearly as confusing as I remember).

Definitely one of the best games I've played in terms of characters, plot, and choice-making, but I don't think I'm likely to play again anytime soon for that Dark Side file because of some really intensely slow areas, accursed and lengthy dialogue, buggy pathing and glitching cutscenes. Awesome game, but it does show some signs of age.

Roster Rankings:

Most Used: Main > Bastila > Carth > Mission > T3-M4 > Canderous > Jolee > HK-47 > Zaalbar > Juhani

Most Cared For: Main > Bastila > Mission > Jolee > Canderous > Zaalbar > HK-47 > Carth > T3-M4 > Juhani

I'm tempted by the Dark Side of the Force to make a new playthrough just to troll Carth and turn Juhani and Bastila into my Sith Apprentices.

I know they played these games, because soo much was borrowed from them.

I get they left that open so the pc can marry whoever they want without starting a new game, but the game needs replay value.

Unless I'm mistaken, IIRC, wasn't it only one person who built and developed this entire game?

I will agree with you that there is some absence of satisifacation. I also remember Harvest Moon 64 fondly, and lament how boring the game is after marriage. I like that the NPCs don't marry here, though their dialogue doesn't really change anyway regardless. I just remember after everyone is married off, the bar was so quiet and empty with the same patrons saying the same sad things night after night. But, man, that festival when everyone shows up... it's so nice (even though the only time I made it there was my first playthrough and barely anyone came to visit me and Maria, ;_;).

Stardew Valley is a ton of fun, but you're right about how boring it gets to wake up and do something with nothing to really chase.

25. Beat a game with horror as a central theme

Rusty Lake Paradise

- Either I've gotten used to it or the Rusty Lake games aren't as haunting as I remember them to be. This probably had some of the most fun puzzles, but it just felt more random overall than most of the Cube Escape series. The timeline didn't seem to make much sense (though it never really does).

Just off memory...

Case 23 > Seasons > Birthday > Roots > Cave > Paradise > Hotel > Lake > Arles > Harvey's Box

Don't remember Mill or Theatre at all.
