Gamergate doesn't matter at all to this story.

- A member of the community had some criticism regarding the game's writing. They may or may not have been an asshole about it.
- A dev replied to it on a public platform by berating them. When called out, the dev doubled down.
- The company did not want the dev's behavior to negatively impact them, and so the dev was ultimately fired.

The end.

Are humans not, on the whole, a sexually dimorphic species? And is our biology not a part of that?

Because it's odd to say biological sex does not exist, and then immediately describe how chromosomes (a feature of our biology) play into intersex.

It sounds more like the argument should be that biological sex is not necessarily as straightforward as we often believe. Not that it outright doesn't exist.

Does anyone on the left even believe that? I thought the left stance was that biological sex and gender were too different things?

I'm more on the Left, and that's definitely what I believe. Biological sex =/= gender, I mean. Biological sex is scientifically proven; gender is a bit more complicated.

Gender isnt that much more complicated imo. Its basically youre a guy biologically and you can have different skill sets and interests, like cooking or gardening, but despite that youre still male. Doesnt matter what you feel like lol.

And Im astonished that people can say such stupid and wrong things like Theres no such thing as biological sex. This is one of the few instances where I support the death penalty. You should be round up and executed if you vocally make this known that is what you truly think on multiple occasions. Much like how Singapore you can be executed for graffiti, harsh, but better in the long run for the country and nearly impossible to be in a situation where youre making graffiti, its not like stealing food because youre poor lol. Same thing here, dont say such stupid things that go against common sense and what you learn as a seven year old based on scientific fact and its practically impossible to have misfortune come your way.

Belief isn't a choice. It's the state of being convinced of something.

And you choose based on what you know whether or not you believe in that something.

We may have agency over parts of the process, but belief is not a choice. What we describe as choosing to believe or not to believe something is merely the recognition of our current state of belief.

Well, I don't know how many people running are actual white supremacists. But considering there are only two viable parties to run under if you want to be elected, republican is probably the better option for them of the two.

I'm asking why that's the case. what about the GOP makes white nationalists feel they have a chance running in their party

Because the republican party is associated with more nationalist-leaning policies than the democratic party. Plus, conservative policies are ones that preserve the current or traditional status quo, which tends to support white people in a place where white people have traditionally hold the majority of the power in society.

College is the result of strong competition along with a culture where going to college is seen as a must.

Healthcare is a bit trickier. A bit of a simplication, but allowing private competition has helped encourage hospitals to make advancements in medicine and medical tech. Unfortunately, it also drove prices through roof and encourages other unethical behavior.

In the current framework, maximum limits are virtually impossible. Too much of it involves the free exchange of money and things of value that doing away with or limiting them would cause the systems below to collapse.

A lot of people I know who put a lot of value on self-reliance are of the working class. They are all tough ass people. Firefighters, boxers, soldiers, etc. They aren't rich, but they're tough minded and fight through hard ships.

Look, I know life isn't fair, and a lot of people who claim they pulled themselves up had a lot of help. I get that privilege exist. But a lot of times people, just need to suck it up and do what they need to do.

Self-reliance and perseverance shouldn't have negative connotations. Everyone should strive to become mentally strong regardless of your background.

How does one become "mentally strong"?

If I want to build muscle, I can workout and see direct results shortly thereafter. But what about mental strength?

By being able to meet challenges and not give up. When things get hard, you stick with it. It's something you get used to. The discomfort and the ability to push through your limits. My coaches focused a lot on it when I used to train boxing and grappling. They legit forced me to do stuff I thought I couldn't do, and often had me literally crawling off the mats because of I didn't have the energy to stand anymore.

It's part confidence and part adaptation. Getting used to discomfort. Getting used to the grind.

That sounds more like the result of being mentally strong than the process by which someone becomes mentally strong.

Here's the biggest issue when it comes to criticizing Jordan Peterson (and I would say it's more something to levy against his fans, although I'm sure he himself has no issue with this as well).

His fans want his critics to address Jordan Peterson's arguments themselves. This is, of course, totally fair and what should obviously be the idea. What isn't fair, however, is that when criticism is brought up, a different version of the argument from somewhere else in his prolific history is brought up to change the argument being criticized. "He said this, but he actually meant that." "Oh, he said that, but he actually meant this."

His arguments can't be criticized if all criticism is just given the run around. That's why it's always on the person giving their argument to be clear. Each and every time. Everyone makes mistakes, sure. And some degree of correcting and verifying what you've said is expected. But with Jordan Peterson and his fans, it seems more like a defense mechanism. It's like a means to combat criticism by making the arguments just malleable enough that different versions can be propped up as necessary to circumvent critique.

And that's why the standard is there. It's on the speaker to be clear and precise, not on the audience to hunt for the best version of an argument the person across them is making.
