I kept on AI Mystic Artes and they usually did decently with them.

Berseria's cast is by far my favorite in the series. My least favorite member of the cast would be one of my favorites in any other game.

Velvet is weak against flying enemies, so that's no surprise. She just struggles to hit them effectively. The most consistently difficult enemy type for me to fight with her were the tiny little asshole bees.

Oops, also meant to say that perilous battles are easier later on, not scarier.

I jacked up the difficulty every chance I got and never had too much trouble (I did grind a decent amount, not a ton though)...except that the enemy magic casters get ridiculous on the higher difficulties. Had to use All-Divides on two of the endgame bosses because hoo boy.

Pay attention to the titles you get. They can have pretty good bonuses. My favorite was one that massively increased the damage done by a Mystic Arte based on the number of hits in the combo leading up to it.

Perilous battle are scary early on and it might be a good idea to just run. Later on they're a lot easier and become awesome Grade sources.

I'm really loving how, so far, the game has really excellently kept velvet really toeing that villian/anti-hero line. You start thinking that she is doing the right thing, or at least is justified in her actions, and then she goes and burns down a storehouse of medicine without even questioning what she was doing. Maybe the game will eventually reveal it wasn't really medicine, or it was tainted somehow or whatever and sway the scales back in velvets favor. But I'm really loving how well they're riding that gray area

I love that part. The image of Velvet and co riding off into the sunset on their stolen boat as the town bemoans its fate actually had me laughing at how straight it was played. Neither the game nor the party themselves try to justify the situation in any way, nor are you expected to feel any one certain way. It just happens, and then you're left to figure out how you feel about it.

if you want you can set up a google voice number and retext the codes for the coupons and order again (maybe on a new target account)

I think 'more anime' is a really good descriptor when comparing DR with the other two series. Danganronpa is basically as Anime as something can get without it being 'too far' for me. It's good that Johnbobb played Persona 5 first to get him more used to the anime aesthetic, because I think he usually plays different kinds of games than this.

Another tip: moves get stronger the more you use them. This is why I said stick Gouging Spin at the start of each combo, but it's a low-SP move that repositions you towards the target and has an increasingly high chance of stunning an enemy as the game goes on and you use the move more.

And (THIS IS IMPORTANT): equipment skills matter more than levels. Max out each unique 'skill' on each piece of equipment that you can. You get free stats and free passive effects that can be pretty major. Prioritize any piece of equipment that says "% increase to equipment skill leveling speed" or whatever it is, because that lets you get those skills more quickly. I'm not sure if the game has let you 'grade chain' random encounters yet, but that will help a lot too when it becomes available.

Exploiting weaknesses and/or stunning enemies in Berseria is super important. It's basically how you win fights.

For Velvet:

1. All of the four combo chains you have should start with Gouging Spin. It's just really good.
2. Diversify the effects of the artes in your combo chains. You want to get it to the point where you never have to manually change them until you learn a new move. You should always have access to at least one combo chain that exploits the weakness you want.
3. Get comfortable with moving between your different combo chains while in the middle of using them. If an enemy is weak to fire, the first move in your X Button chain exploits fire, and the second move in the Square button chain exploits fire, the combo should start with X then Square.

The original Soleil story in the Japanese version is the worst thing the series has ever written, so even if the updated version has some flaws it's still waaay better than what we could have gotten.

Funny thing about the PoR translation - it changed dialogue to make Ike/Soren seem less like a pairing and for Ike to seem more straight in general. They added in flirty-esque dialogue Ike has with other female characters and changed the final Soren support conversation from "you were the only one who helped" to "you and Greil were the only ones who helped". It also changed "you are the only one special to me" to "you are my only friend".

Yeah all the trained soldiers in the DMC5 trailer got mowed down like chumps. Their bullets didn't even do anything! I guess bullets are just better when Lady (or Dante or Nero) use them. Makes sense.

Beowulf is the best weapon in the game naturally, and absolutely broken if you learn to master one somewhat glitchy trick I'll tell you about after the game is over.

Lady gets a gold star for being the only human in the series who can walk into demon territory and not immediately die, but it's a little too difficult to beat someone who shrugs off headshots when all you have are guns.

The battle system is very simple at the start. Once you start to rack up abilities, you're not going to have any downtime and it more or less becomes an action system.
