I look away one moment as he stepped out for a cigarette, and he jumped off the balcony in a suicide attempt.. I'm in shock and in crisis mode. I can't deal with this instability anymore, and I have nowhere else to go or stay to take care of my sanity.... I want to check myself into a psych ward myself, but I dont know if that will be a detriment or helpful in this moment. Pray for me CE? The rejection of it probably was a culmination of the events going on during the turn of the century with WWI. Part of the reason why I like post war art because it is the first time I see art as an expression of self rather than a trade or something to be perfected. And although Renaissance painters had there own touches and interpretations of art it was still very linear. I think some of my cynassism with classical paintings is not being able to see a lot of them in person. Scans and HQ photo's don't do them justice. I saw a Caravaggio exhibit a couple years back, and was amazed how the right lighting and seeing it in person effected the emotion and grandeur of the painting. But I also have seen some Pollocks in person and they give me that same chill lol. If I'm ever in New York or you're in So Cal we have to catch coffee :D. --- The user formerly known as 626 |

Alexandre Cabanel did a fantastic one too, but I can't even crop it enough to post it. But the shift towards realism and impressionism was palpable by the 1860s/1870s and I don't anyone was creating classical works by 1910. Just how there was multiple "Davids" but only Michelangelo's is the only one remotely remembered. I was actually talking to my Dad the other day how I dislike Donatello's David. 1910 is the start of art. Jk, but I know that's where are taste kind of split.
