I feel people are skimming over these results and not giving them nuanced thought. Obviously capitalism has dragged people out of poverty but that's not really what this poll is about. People are concerned by things like a fall in family values and being exploited by politicians and big business, and having lived in eastern erode, I can tell you that these are very justified concerns. The feeling isn't a slant against capitalism or a love for communism but a realisation that through corruption people are being exploited and badly. Under communism there was a black market where you had to bribe your way to anything you wanted but nowadays this is true for anything in these countries. Anyone who can is moving West and leaving their older family members behind, leaving entire towns empty and families ripped apart. People need to realise that this a more complicated situation than 'hur dur cultural marxism'.

It doesn't make all that much difference. Since most of these jobs are either retail or service, companies have a set budget for paying their workers. Raising minimum wage won't raise this budget but rather force these companies to pay less man hours, either in the form of less workers or shorter hour contracts, while still demanding the same output. Minimum wage is not the magic bullet it is made out to be and all companies that pay minimum wage workers have contingencies in place to avoid raising costs if minimum wage goes up. It's my experience that these contingencies are rarely favourable to the worker.

I mean if i could make the same money working 20 hours instead of 40 i would take it.

It's mostly retail so it's more like cutting people's hours from 16 to 4

Well, yes, the khmer rouge would probably be a more 'dramatic' example of this in action. The point is that people rarely if ever use these as examples of the dangers of rabid nationalism in action but do frequently cite them as 'typical' outcomes of leftist philosophy.

To clarify, I am neither leftist or nationialist and am not trying to defend either.

Some teenager logic in this topic

Few things

Games and drugs are relatively cheap and by pooling my resources with my wife I actually have more money not less.

Half of marriages end in divorce, sure, but all life ends in death. Neither is an argument against because neither exist for their respective culmination.

The reason I don't lie in is because I have a job.

Having family does stop you from doing certain kind of lifestyles but if getting stoned and gaming is the best you've got, I'll pass.

It's really confusing that the police are 'baffled' by this statistic because crime has been increasing or all kinds for years. In fact it has been increasing steadily since the current government came in and started cutting police budget. The areas with the largest cuts have seen the largest increases in crime and the current police budget is almost half what it was when the current government came in. Combine that with large cuts to youth services in poor areas and it's not difficult to see where the problem is coming from. I imagine the police are baffled because they know who pays their wages.

Are you saying that the tories cutting money to services makes the services struggle?

No, it is the lessening number of migrants that are the issue. They rove round in bands to other cities, I hear, as well to cause trouble!

You're right. Common sense is no match for "YouTube videos from UK people". :Do

I stopped posting because it's a waste of time arguing with stupid, UK people have been blasting on youtube the issue of migrants raping women and how there is more rape because of them. Migrants are also attacking UK citizens besides the normal british criminals and UK youtubers are saying "migrants are causing problems".

The UK people have also uploaded video evidence of this, there are still brits who rape women but the rise of rape reports are because migrants are raping women and the UK people are reporting but the police are doing nothing.

I have no dog in this fight, I am only commenting on what UK people are saying and that is "migrants are raping a lot of women, women do not feel safe going out at night due to gangs assaulting them".

If some of you "migrant defenders" actually looked at the youtube videos and listened to what UK people are saying you would get educated on what is going on from the horse's mouth.

Okay, look, I live in London. I'm a 'UK person'. The problem with getting your views from YouTube is that everyone has a preset agenda. Why? Because they are selling their views. On YouTube it literally pays to be as clickbatey and controversial as possible.

I'm not here because I want to defend refugees. I'm generally fairly conservative, especially in my age group, but some of the nonsense being put forward in this topic doesn't add up and stinks of Americans trying to paint everything in their black and white view of the world on something they know nothing about.

So sexual assault has gone up by 20%? Obviously it's because of the Syrian refugee crisis. Except UK has only taken in 9000 of them. And not being part of the schengen agreement, they have been able to select who they bring in, meaning most Syrian refugees in the UK are families. And most of these families haven't been set up in London because London is bloody expensive. So we're supposed to believe that these families, who may or may not be living in London have caused a 20% increase in rape in a city of 12 million people? Please...

But what about immigrants in general then? Well, it's no secret that the most crime heavy parts of London are also the most minority heavy. You've got Tottenham in the north with a large population of black people, Newham in the east with Bangladesh people and eastern Europeans in the south. But again, when it comes to the increase, the numbers just don't add up. Immigration is down, so if crime is tied to immigration shouldn't crime be down? Furthermore, much of the crime coming from minorities in London is gang related, whereby someone commuting the crime is more likely to be a British born minority from a poor background than someone fresh off the boat.
