imo it depends on whether you mostly care about battle worth, or design + other factors. If it's mostly battle worth then just rank the final evo because it's going to be the best one anyway. If a lot of other things then it gets more interesting so rank everyone.

Just based on this topic, if he's controlling who she can and can't be friends with, it sounds toxic and she's better off without him. Maybe he seems like a decent enough dude around you (an acquaintance, also a guy) but directing her friendships seems like a huge red flag.

A really solid top 5 but it goes rapidly downhill after that. There's also a ton of pokemon that I dislike (the UBs, Primarina, Bruxish, Dhelmise, Drampa, etc.)
