I tried the Arms demo, actually it was pretty cool! I assume there are more maps in the full game?

I wasn't expecting the other modes besides the standard fights, I got a kick out of basketball in particular. I wasn't great at the game, but I was able to hold my own and won a few matches, definitely solid pick up and play appeal. I'll probably buy it before I go on my work trip next week, seems perfect to play for 20-30 minute stretches.

Also, I have pretty much just been playing Far Cry 5. I am really digging it tbh. I loved Far Cry 3, and then Blood Dragon. When I got to 4, I think I was burnt out on the series, and didn't like it as much. Now that it's been a while, it still feels pretty fresh, even with all the other open world games out there. Gameplay is solid, great mission variety, the mix of stealth and action, upgrading your character, all executed very well imo.

Story is whatever. I enjoy the monologues, but the story could definitely use more... bite. There isn't any real social commentary, and they haven't done a great job of even explaining how this cult got to where it is. The random notes around the world do help flesh things out a bit, and there are some fun characters, but that's it.

I am totally sucked into the world though. My honeymoon was in West Yellowstone, Montana. It's basically Wyoming, but we did drive into Montana a little deeper one day, and did some horseback riding. Basically, it really captures the mountains and landscapes perfectly, and totally brings me back to that week. So from a personal standpoint, I love the setting, but I think it's cool and at least somewhat unique enough that most people will dig it.

That's a pretty minor tariff and response compared to this.

"Tariffs accomplished what they intended but made no difference". That is basically what that article just said and it was mind blowing.

Tariffs successfully stemmed job losses in the sector. Tariffs accomplished nothing.

Tariffs increased costs of tires from American companies. Tariffs were skirted by just continuing to buy foreign tires from next lowest companies.

Which is it?

These other countries only can produce for cheaper because they have no environmental standards and worker standards.

How can we sit back and let American industry die off because we force our companies into higher standards that parts of the rest of the world don't adhere to?

If you want to force that on American companies, then force America to buy American so they are not killed off by them.

There is a benefit too though. Imports give us cheaper goods, and if we pay less for the things we need, that helps us. If we have to spend more on local stuff alone, that is less money we are spending on other things. We also rely on outside markets to sell some of our goods, so if countries strike back with trade war tactics, that still hurts our own industry.

You can see what happened with Obama's tire tariff. It helped that one industry a little bit, yes, but costs went up for everyone with that product, and the retaliatory tariffs hurt the industries that rely on other people buying. It's not cut and dry. The tariffs accomplished nothing, because they estimate businesses and consumers having to pay more for their tires, and the cost of the tariffs in other sectors hurt the economy in other ways.

This is also a big story because of Trump's rhetoric, as kev said. He said "trade wars are easy to win!", so there is concern about a trade war, which is good for no one.

Man, so many DISAGREEMENTS.

-I remember really digging Indigo Prophecy, but the biggest flaw was there was all this crazy stuff going on, on the screen, but you couldn't watch any of it because you had to focus on what button to press to keep it going. It's been a long time, but I definitely remember enjoiyng the story but being super disappointed by that. Ranking seems fair.

-I think you should try Horizon again later on. I don't remember inventory management being too bad, but using the different bows made the game feel really unique and cool. The trip wire bow you reference is probably the most fun bow to use! If you were burnt out on OW, not much else you can do but give it a little time before trying again.

-Wolf Among Us seems low based on your writeup. I will 100% agree with you on it being the best telltale game though. This and the first season of Walking Dead is all I've gotten through, but the uniqueness of that world made it super cool. I was also totally new to the series, and I thought they did a great job of opening that world up to a newbie.

-FF13, I also love the battle system, liked the story and a few characters, but your rank seems fair.

-I mostly agree on Uncharted. I've never found the core gameplay to be as fun as Gears of War, and the platforming always seemed like a waste of time because it's so easy outside of the occasional set piece that does it well. Puzzles were whatever. I actually did have some fun with the multiplayer on I believe Uncharted 3 though.

I disagree strongly on you comparing Uncharted to Last of Us though, a couple of core gameplay elements are similar, but the way you play the game is so far off from anything you do in Uncharted. Resource management and more stealth made for a way different experience imo.

-I really dug LA Noire back in the day, I think because it was so different than anything else at the time, even for its flaws. I'm generally a rule follower in GTA games, so it worked well for me!

-I quit Undertale pretty early in, I got really bored with it : (. I also don't like Earthbound for what its worth. Reading about "true ending requirements" makes me feel better about walking away for sure too.

-It is crazy to think about playing Rock Band with buddies now. I remember how awful the RB guitar felt, but if I recall, you could use the GH guitar, which saved the game for me. But man, I have no desire to have all that stuff hanging around near my gaming area and setting it all up when I want to play like the OLD DAYS.

I love that he's still using this "scripted" comment, and trying to use Sinclair as a way to prove everything is bad. I also love how apparently we all agreed that the news shouldn't be trusted in the past. Is it that hard to assess each company on it's own merits, and to understand what editorial content is vs straight news coverage?

We also all apparently believed James Comey needed to be fired, awesome! Good to know!

The only way we are adding another starter is if we somehow end up with a top 3 pick. Re-sign Tolliver, hope for internal improvement, with Stanley being the guy who has the most additional growth potential imo. That's all we can do, but that would be enough to have a great season assuming health.

Republicans don't want what he wants though . The Trump bill only got 39 votes. The only bills that got over 50 votes were DACA for border security type deals. Trump wants to throw in crazy limits on legal immigration, which is why he can't make a deal.

I might try arms tomorrow, but it doesn't look super up my alley.

I'm like 17 hours into ni no kuni 2 now. The difficulty is a bit better now. Main story is still pretty easy, but not the total cake walk it was. Lots of challenging side stuff you can take on now that the game has opened up. Having even a tiny challenge makes combat way more fun.

Otherwise, no real change. Main story remains underwhelming, and the recruiting and kingdom building is carrying the game hardcore, as it is done really well.

I gave in and bought far cry 5 today. Got a few extra days off this week, so I'm expecting to make solid progress this week!

I just think Galloway and Buycks kinda suck. And fit is largely irrelevant cause they suck.

I can't disagree, I just don't think they had to have a big role. If anything, it was a waste of Ish's talent to put him out there with that lineup. The bench needed him bad.

Of course he was a bad signing. 7 mill per year is insane for him. Especially once we drafted a SG.

But my point is

Starting lineup- really needed more shooting. We were not running the offense through Ish anyway.

Bench- needed playmaking/someone to create for all the shooters.

Ish to the bench would have made that bench lineup good, like it was all season before reggie went down. And I don't think the starting lineup would have lost much, because Ish didn't have a starring role there. There's a chance I'm wrong, but look at our record! It was abysmal! We needed to make a change far more dramatic than Ennis for Stanley, or kennard being benched for a night. We had way too much talent to lose some of the games we lost when Reggie went down, especially once Blake was in the picture.

Also, before he traded Avery, he played Avery WAY TOO GOD DAMN MUCH, when he was a net negative most of the time, let's not forget that.

How many minutes? Also, remember, they played very well as a whole once Blake got there with that lineup, but it was all teams that either sucked or were coming off a 2nd game of a back to back. After that 5 game stretch, things fell apart fast, which is why Ennis got into the starting lineup. The no Reggie vs Reggie record difference is HUGE. As much as I love Reggie, he's not worth 20+ wins

The record plays out that what SVG was doing wasn't working. The changes he made were Ennis for Stanley, and he would occasionally bench Galloway or kennard. I firmly believe ish off the bench would have been a logical move, but he held firm with what he was doing. I think he's an OK coach game to game, but he just refused to try new things and totally blew the season. We shouldn't have been THAT bad without Reggie.

Also, if you like on/off stats, I'm surprised you like Payton, have you seen his with the suns? Ouch.

Galloway's career numbers indicate he is better shooter than what he has been with us. SVG's been so in and out with him, I don't think that has helped.

Ish and Blake probably gained a lot of their net rating from Blake playing small ball 5 with him. The starting lineup was pretty atrocious, which is in part because Stanley was also in there a lot, so we had literally 1 shooter.

The bench clearly needed some sort of playmaker, like Ish. The starting lineup just needed more shooting to put around Blake. Team cohesion would have been way better with someone like Galloway imo.

Look at crunch time against the Rockets the other night. They were daring Blake to give it to Ish in the corner, and the offense just died. And I like Ish perfectly fine in his current role, I just don't think we have had the right personnel around Blake at all when Reggie isn't around.

The 3 point percentage being OK is deceiving though, because they are literally all wide open. Off ball, he still gets completely disrespected, which is what leads to triple teams for blake inside, with no real shooter to pass it to.

I want to know more about that, and Roland's backstory, etc. But it doesn't look like they are even going to touch on a flashback or anything at this point. I mean, they have to at some point, but I feel like it should have at least been touched on by now.

I loved the shit out of SteamWorld Dig 2. That game came out of nowhere for me, decided to download it on a whim on my Switch and I have zero regrets. It was such a blast to explore, my only complaint was it felt a bit short (though I played it a lot in a short period). I wanted more, damnit!

Is Heist as good?

No. I find it to be a good game, but there is no guarantee you'll like it, even if you loved Dig. They are just completely different genres. If you have ever enjoyed strategy games of any sort, I'm sure it'll have some appeal though. It does some really cool things.
