E3 officially kicks off with EA going first again like they've done for the past few years. I don't expect too much hype for EA given the Battlefront loot box controversy last year and EA's focus on sports games. Even if you're not hyped for EA, let's all get hyped up for E3 in general.

Poor Bulbasaur. It had no chance to compete against Charmander and Squirtle because Pokemon Green was never released outside of Japan. A lot of people probably wanted to obtain the same Pokemon that was depicted on their Pokemon Red/Blue game cartridge, so this may have led to Charmander and Squirtle being the most picked starters of Gen 1. Bulbasaur didn't receive a fair shake during Gen 1 as Pokemon Green didn't get released outside of Japan.

This ultimately had serious ramifications for future Grass starters since many people chose the same starter type as their first ever starter (people who continuously pick the same type every time). Fire and Water had the advantage in general since Charmander and Squirtle were the most popular starter choices in Gen 1. It wasn't until Gen 7 where the clear winner was a Grass starter for the first time.

Well, not a clear winner. Flareon is not a sure thing despite being Gen 1, and it also has the potential to get anti-voted because of Eevee's insane popularity in general. Some people hate the overall popularity of Eevee and its evolutions, and that could work against Flareon.

Flareon has just pulled off the biggest upset of the contest. With the contest now down to its final member of Gen 1, we are guaranteed to get a final featuring at least one non-Gen 1 Pokemon. Flareon is also not the most ideal option to capitalize on the "Gen 1 always wins" trend of every previous Save My Pokemon contest, so we could end up with a non-Gen 1 winner for the first time ever.

With Charizard out, it's a lot less likely the the final will involve 2 Gen 1's. All it takes it for either Articuno or Flareon to go out before the final and we're guaranteed to have a non-Gen 1 Pokemon in the final.

I think this result actually proves that Flareon is one of the most popular Eeveelutions (and I like it). People kept saying Flareon was the least popular out of the Gen 1 Eeveelutions for some reason.

It doesn't prove anything. In Save My Pokemon, almost anything can happen. Even Pokemon that would generally be considered safe picks to reach the Top 10 could go out unexpectedly before reaching that point.

When you have save trading in place, that can really affect the results. You also don't have the same users participating in every Save My Pokemon contest. The previous Save My Pokemon had some users who aren't participating in this Save My Pokemon, and there were some users in this contest who didn't participate in the previous one. This plays a big role in which Pokemon will have at least one user trading for them.

Lickilicky probably would have gone a little bit farther if Stifled no longer had to trade for Chatot. Where as Dragon had lost all of the Pokemon he was trading for, Stifled was lucky enough to still have one of his favorites still alive. Trading for Chatot would have taken priority over using his saves to trade for Lickilicky. If Chatot had gone out before Lickilicky, then I would have expected Stifled to go all-in on Lickilicky instead.

Lickilicky's support was pretty much limited to 4 users - Great_Paul, Stifled, Dragon, and Poka

Those 4 users would only allow Lickilicky to reach a maximum of 12 saves, since no one is getting more than 3 saves at this point in the contest. And there's no one else outside of those 4 users who are saving Lickilicky with their own saves.

Starting with tomorrow's round, I'll bump Flareon down to my third save (if it still needs more saves) so I can put more priority on Decidueye. Flareon is not too likely to reach the final round, where as I'd like to see a non-Gen 1 Pokemon make it to the finals.

Dang, my save for Chatot turned out to be unnecessary as it would have still reached 10 saves without my save. I guess I should have saved Weezing instead, but I didn't really trust Weezing to be the one to knock out Lickilicky.

Ash is probably going to get an Incineroar in the anime, since his Litten has already evolved into Torracat. That would fill the role of a fully evolved starter Pokemon for Ash in the Gen 7 anime. Although he didn't have a fully evolved starter in the Gen 5 anime despite owning all 3 starters.
