It was a shit job that was only a temporary thing anyway. You cant even take a shit without getting written up, basically. It was at Walmart Distribution. You have timed routes in which you must stack dry food items, cases of drinks, cleaning chemicals, etc. onto two pallets. You drive them around the warehouse on a standing jack and you stack food about 8 feet high by the time youre done. You have to Tetris the shit out of them so they dont go toppling over every time you move. Theres also a robotic voice in your ear the entire time because youre wearing a headset that tells you where to go and what to pick. Thats all the social interaction you get, too. You dont have time to talk to anyone else. Youre sweating bullets jus trying to keep up with your timer, and god help you if you get the shits. The time frame is so tight that you cant even be off by two minutes or your manager will write you up. Its petty and I have had enough. Im going home.

I'm a picker as well at a pet food/supply warehouse, enjoy my job. Sucks it didn't work out for ya

Several pedestrians have been hit by a van in Toronto, say police in the Canadian city.

The collision occurred at a busy intersection, and up to 10 people may have been struck.

The van fled the scene after the incident, at the intersection of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue, police say.

The incident happened at 13:30 local time (17:30 GMT) on Monday. Police have asked the public to avoid the area. Nearby subway services have been halted.

"Reports were that a white van mounted the curb, drove down the sidewalk at southbound Yonge, south of Finch, and struck eight to 10 people possibly, the numbers aren't confirmed yet," Toronto police spokesperson Gary Long told Canadian broadcaster Global News.

Pictures apparently taken at the scene show police armed with rifles and paramedics treating injured people.

One orange bag, which appears to contain a body, is seen being loaded on to an ambulance.

http://wnep.com/2018/04/17/four-year-old-summoned-for-jury-duty/

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Four-year-old Damien Shrader of Swoyersville loves playing with his toys. He likes playing with his friends and riding his bike, too.

"He's always been a very serious child, but I didn't think he was quite ready for that kind of a thing, there, laughed his mom, Desiree Shrader.

"That kind of thing" is a summons for jury duty.

It showed up this week in Damien's great-grandmother's mailbox, ordering the preschooler to show up at the Luzerne County Courthouse.

When asked if he understood the summons, Damien sweetly shook his head no.

Damien's own mom has never been summoned for jury duty, and Damien has only ever gotten one other letter in the mail: it was from Santa.

"I was curious to know how they got his information and decided that he needed to come and make some kind of decisions here, said Desiree Shrader.

Damien's parents went to the Luzerne County Courthouse Tuesday and explained the situation.

There were a few laughs and the little boy was granted a formal excuse, although the court administrator told Newswatch 16 he is certain sure Damien would make "a fantastic juror" in 15 years or so.

"They formally excused him because he has preschool that day. We also tried to make sure they don't request his two-year-old brother come either. We'd prefer to have them wait a little while for jury duty, laughed Desiree Shrader.

The court administrator believes Damiens name and information were mistakenly added to list of potential jurors from tax documents his great-grandmother filed after buying him stocks.

Blumhouse has revealed the first poster for the highly anticipated sequel Halloween 2018. The new film will act as a soft reboot of sorts and will ignore every other movie in the series apart from the original. The latest Halloween movie picks up the story of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) 40 years after the events of the original film. Laurie will have to fight to save her family when Michael suddenly reappears decades later to gain revenge.

Halloween 2018 will be released in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original, which has been credited with kickstarting the slasher subgenre. The movie will reunite key players from the original Halloween, including Jamie Lee Curtis, John Carpenter who will executive produce and compose the score and Nick Castle, who played Michael in the film. Castle will actually share the Myers role in Halloween 2018; he will play the character in a couple of scenes, while actor James Jude Courtney plays Michael for the bulk of the movie.

It was recently revealed that Michael would be wearing his original mask in Halloween 2018 and that it would look appropriately decayed after 4 decades. Now Blumhouse has revealed a teaser poster for the movie, offering a first look at Michaels weathered mask:

The mask looks suitably eerie, and the aged look just adds to the creepiness. Michael wearing a ragged version of his original mask was also a plot point used in Rob Zombies Halloween movies. In that version of the story, its the same mask he wore when he killed his family as a boy, and once he escapes the asylum as an adult he returns to his old house to dig it up. He also wears it in Halloween II, where its decayed to the point where half his face is exposed.

A recent rumor suggested the new movie could be titled Halloween H40, but this was quickly debunked by Blumhouse. Some fans are a little upset the movie will ignore other entries in the series but given that there are now 3 or 4 separate timelines in the franchise, it became a necessary evil. The series also hasnt had a genuinely great sequel in a long time, but with the talent involved with Halloween 2018, it could just be the best in the franchise since the original. Even producer Jason Blum is fanboying out over the movie and recently praised it after screening the first cut of Halloween 2018.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/04/05/teen-accomplice-sentenced-65-years/492001002/

WETUMPKA, Ala. A teenager tried as an adult under Alabama's accomplice liability law was sentenced to 65 years in prison Thursday after rejecting an earlier plea deal that recommended 25 years.

In a two-day trial in March, Lakeith Smith, now 18, of Montgomery was convicted of felony murder, burglary and theft for helping in the 2015 break-ins of two homes in Millbrook, about 10 miles north of Montgomery. He did not kill A'Donte Washington, 16, of Montgomery, who was part of a group of five accused in the thefts.

But several in the group, including Washington, fired shots at Millbrook police officers who responded Feb. 23, 2015, to a call of a burglary in progress, according to officer body-camera footage. The officer that Washington ran toward pointing a .38 caliber revolver fired his police-issued sidearm four times, killing Washington.

Smith was accused of being criminally responsible for the acts that led to Washington's death, the gist of Alabama's accomplice law. An Elmore County grand jury cleared the officer who fired the fatal shots; the officer's name was not released.

On Thursday, Judge Sibley Reynolds of Alabama's 19th Judicial Circuit Court handed down three sentences that Smith will serve back to back: 30 years for murder, 15 years for burglary and 10 years each for two theft convictions.

Smith smiled and laughed through the sentencing, said C.J. Robinson, chief assistant district attorney. Smith flashed a broad smile March 14 as he was led out of the courtroom shortly after the verdicts were announced.

I dont think Mr. Smith will be smiling long when he gets to prison, Robinson said. We are very pleased with this sentence. Because the sentences are consecutive, it will be a long time before he comes up for even the possibility for parole, at least 20 to 25 years.

Alabama's accomplice law states that a person is legally liable for the behavior of another who commits a criminal offense if that person aids or abets the first person in committing the offense. It wasn't immediately known how many states have similar statutes.

"The officer shot A'donte, not Lakeith Smith," Smith's lawyer, Jennifer Holton, said during the trial. "Lakeith was a 15-year-old child, scared to death. He did not participate in the act that caused the death of A'donte. He never shot anybody."

Other surviving defendants charged in the case Montgomery residents Jadarien Hardy, 22; Jhavarske Jackson, 23; and LaAnthony Washington, 22 entered guilty pleas to charges of felony murder, burglary and theft, court records show. They are awaiting sentencing.

http://www.tmz.com/2018/04/05/conor-mcgregor-warrant-arrest-ufc-bus-attack-dana-white/

Dana White tells TMZ Sports there's a warrant out for Conor McGregor's arrest after he and his entourage attacked a bus with UFC fighters at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

However, we have not confirmed that with the NYPD just yet.

According to Dana, law enforcement has told Conor his plane cannot take off from New York and leave the state.

McGregor has been instructed to turn himself into authorities as soon as possible ... and multiple people involved in the incident have vocalized that they plan on suing the Irishman.

Dana says he hasn't spoken with Conor yet, but plans to do so as soon as possible. White says his focus right now is making sure UFC 223 continues as planned.

Conor's close friend Artem Lobov, who was allegedly involved in the attack, has been pulled from the event. Dana tells us, "He's obviously not fighting this weekend."

How much more wear and tear can one couch take? Were about to find out.

As foreshadowed earlier this week by TVLine, ABC has renewed Roseanne for Season 11, the network announced on Friday. The pickup which is for 13 episodes, up from Season 10s nine episodes comes just four days after the series record-shattering return. The two-episode premiere averaged 18.2 million total viewers and a 5.2 demo rating, making it the highest-rated comedy telecast in three-and-a-half years. And with just one day of DVR playback factored it, those numbers already swell to 21.9 mil/6.2.

Were thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We cant wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year.

The entire cast including series regulars Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, and Sarah Chalke are expected to return.

http://www.tmz.com/2018/03/30/arnold-schwarzenegger-open-heart-surgery-valve-replacement/

Arnold Schwarzenegger has undergone emergency open-heart surgery ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to Arnold tell TMZ, the 70-year-old Schwarzenegger went to Cedars-Sinai Thursday for a catheter valve replacement. We're told the surgery is somewhat experimental and he developed complications.

Doctors were prepared in case the catheter valve replacement failed ... and quickly decided Arnold needed emergency open-heart surgery, which we're told lasted several hours.

This is not the first time Arnold has gone under the knife for heart surgery. He had an aortic valve replaced in 1997. At the time doctors didn't feel the procedure was urgently needed, but Arnold decided to do it while he was still young. He also said at the time the condition was congenital and had nothing to do with steroids.

As for his condition ... we're told he's stable.

http://www.businessinsider.com/r-amazon-sheds-52-billion-in-market-value-after-report-on-trump-threat-2018-3

(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc's shares fell as much as 7 percent on Wednesday, wiping out about $52 billion from the company's market value, after a report that U.S. President Donald Trump wants to go after the U.S. tech giant.

Trump has talked about changing Amazon's tax treatment because he's worried about mom-and-pop retailers being put out of business, Axios reported earlier on Wednesday.

Amazon could not be immediately reached for comment.

"Capitol Hill wants Facebook's blood, but President Trump isn't interested. Instead, the tech behemoth Trump wants to go after is Amazon," the news website reported, citing five sources who have discussed the issue with him.

The report comes at a time when tech stocks are already under pressure after Facebook Inc acknowledged earlier this month that user data had been improperly harvested by a consultancy firm.

"With Facebook and regulatory worries the last thing nervous tech investors wanted to see was news that Trump is targeting Bezos and Amazon over the coming months as this remains a lingering cloud over the stock and heightens the risk profile in the eyes of the Street," GBH Insights analyst Daniel Ives said.

Trump had in the past criticized Amazon and its founder and Chief Executive Jeff Bezos, who is also the richest person in the world with a net worth of more than $100 billion, according to Forbes.

Bezos also owns The Washington Post, a newspaper Trump has repeatedly railed against in his criticisms of the news media.

"He's obsessed with Amazon," a source told Axios.

Topic'Roseanne' revival skyrockets in ratings
Scorsese2002
03/28/18 11:55:53 AM
#1
https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/tv-ratings-roseanne-revival-skyrockets-with-stunning-premiere/ar-BBKP9fQ?ocid=spartanntp

Roseanne returned Tuesday. The ABC sitcom, away from the air for two decades, kicked off its revived run with especially promising returns dominating every other Big Four telecast of the night.

The first two episodes of Roseanne, a full hour at the top of the ABC lineup, won the night by both adults 18-49 and total viewers. The show averaged a 5.1 rating in the key demo and 18.1 million viewers, rising from the first half hour to the next. The first number alone is easily enough to make Roseanne the highest-rated regularly-scheduled scripted show of the last few seasons, as well as the highest-rated sitcom in recent memory.

That's an incredibly strong start for the sitcom, thus far only committed to nine episodes. The easiest comparison is another revival, NBC's Will & Grace. The other reboot, one that helped jumpstart Roseanne and the current trend, premiered with a 3.0 rating in the key demo and just over 10 million viewers at the start of the season.

ABC made a pretty bold move by having Roseanne go it alone at 8 p.m., without any lead-in. The hour has belonged to sitcoms The Middle and Fresh Off the Boat for the season up until now. Roseanne's brief run picks up next Tuesday, airing single episodes at 8 p.m. for another seven weeks.

Reboots have been a big part of the TV narrative the last year, particularly at the broadcast networks. Will & Grace and Roseanne will be followed by Murphy Brown on CBS during the 2018-19 season, and rumblings of others (The Office, Mad About You) continue. Like Will & Grace, itself renewed through a third season of the new run, Roseanne's comeback was inspired by the current political climate. But unlike Will & Grace, or any other scripted offering on U.S. TV at the moment, Roseanne presents a more varied take on Donald Trump's America.

These shows are an easy way to cut through the clutter. They promote themselves, generally inspire initial tune-in and have established cast members to do a lot of the heavy lifting one reason why ABC was able to pull in $175,000 for 30-second ads. For now, it seems, it was worth the investment.
