what about in that cop shooting case in st. louis, can't remember the guy's name now. He also claimed the kid or whatever started attacking or punching him. You believe in both cases both of them were being punched etc.....

It's a government body, not a private company, which means that funds that would typically be allocated elsewhere are now going to be used to pay off this suit. That means less resources for the community in some way, in addition to continuing the litigation-happy mindset that our society has adopted.

well it ain't like the cop prob has much money to sue. So of course he's gonna sue his employer. Can't say i really feel sorry for his employer either. You don't want this to happen don't hire shitty employees. Sometimes this works and employers do do better hiring

But nowadays they are asking things like a 3 year office degree, with an additional 2-3 years experience(how can you get experience.... if no place will hire you without experience).

By knowing someone who already works there...

While the ad might suggest 'the ideal candidate will already have 10+ years doing this exact job and be willing to accept half of what they were paid at their previous job', if you know someone who already works at a place you get hired that day, almost on a whim. You might sit down and shoot the breeze for twenty minutes just so there's an 'interview' period on the books, but that's it.

Yeah, that doesn't happen. Least not where I'm from. I've applied to jobs where I've known people in the business, who have put in a good word about my work, and I still never got hired on. Not even an interview. Instead, what happens is that they hire on some 18 year old, just out of high school with no degree, jack squat, keep him for a month then replace him with someone else, because "he isn't working out because of his age".

Also, the computer repair bit, you have to realize that its based on area. Maybe in your area you don't need a degree, but where I live they refuse to hire you on without one.

yeah maybe the customer or whoever though will say they can't work on my computer if they have no degree

First, y'all need some new material.

Second, this is the source:
https://soranews24.com/2018/05/07/japan-suffers-37th-consecutive-year-of-low-birthrate-japanese-people-may-become-extinct-someday/

This is apparently translated from an NHK article from a few days ago.

so what if that is the source? doesn't mean they will become extinct. The country still has a lot of people

I'm not disputing the potential truth of the reporting. I'm posting the source of the article because TC didn't, and a lot of people were taking it at face value without knowing where any of that information was coming from. For all any of us knew TC could've been writing fiction and none of us would have known any difference.

Just as a general note on that article, the original Japanese source doesn't mention anything about extinction or the reaction to it. It was just a report on the numbers like they always do for Children's Day. The article from Sora News 24 took that and found some random comments to highlight for a more clickable piece.

this study was done by a japanese company?

well ok, 80+ might be a tad of an exaggeration lol, but the long term trend of Japanese salarymen working 70 hours or more per week, racking up 100+ hours of overtime per month, being overly stressed and often committing suicide as a result is well documented.

They work all those hours and dont get crap done. http://www.jcer.or.jp/eng/pdf/kenho070602e.pdf

If we look at productivity per hour, the Japanese workers are only about 35% as efficient as their American counter parts.

Because when people are forced to work that many hours, their productivity goes down. There are places that are going for a 6 hour or less workday now. Sounds real nice.

i totally agree light, very accurate
