I kinda like the world. The Glowing Sea specifically is something the other two 3D Fallout games didn't attempt. Plus, the verticality of downtown Boston is pretty cool. It's definitely better than the Capital Wasteland, which is really reliant on the shock of notable landmarks in decay to keep you invested.

Some asshole claims my dog bit him, but pretty much no element of his story could hold up if the burden of proof is on him to prove it was my dog that bit him. If he has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, my dog walks for sure. If he has to show a preponderance of evidence like civil court, I'm 99.9% sure my dog walks. He misidentified the color of my dog. He claims he was bit while walking his 2 pitbulls, but surely they would have done something to my dog. My 6 foot high fence is impossible for my 11 year old dog to get over or around. If he got out of my yard somehow, he wouldn't have been able to get back in and we'd have to find him elsewhere, which didn't happen. Like if this were a person, this wouldn't even make it to a judge, but I'm worried animals get a lower burden of proof.

I genuinely like and enjoy TLJ despite its faults, but the underlying plot contrivance that Star Wars movies need to have Rebels fighting the Empire really weakens the entire bone structure of the sequel trilogy. I get that a lot of the details of the backstory of the OT would appear similarly vague, but you get a pass when you're an actual original story. The sequels are so reliant on the imagery of the OT, but then ask you take in the story as if it exists in a vacuum, and to disregard questions like TC's. You can't make a movie about a Darth Vader fanboy tracking down Luke Skywalker's lightsaber and then get uppity when people call you out on how basically none of this backstory gets shown or explained anywhere but a bunch of shitty books no one's gonna read.

How so? Just by presenting a character who wasn't around before?

Rian Johnson wouldn't defend TLJ by claiming he was intentionally subverting audience expectations if there wasn't some expectation that Snoke would be expounded upon. He only showed up in TFA as a 50 foot shadowy hologram. People watched that movie and expected Snoke to be some big shot in the next two.

No central vision. Maybe it will all make sense when 9 comes out, but the TFA sets up the mystery of Rey's origins and Snoke's identity, then TLJ just seemingly undermines both of those plots by saying Rey's the child of 2 random junk dealers and by killing Snoke off. Granted, I think making Rey another Skywalker or Kenobi would be dumb, and honestly, Snoke was just a shitty Palpatine retread anyway, but it cuts TFA off at the knees to just resolve 2/3 of this series' plots in the most deliberately anticlimactic way possible. If you compare it to how Marvel handles its movies, it's night and day.

I always thought this was a dumb scene. Austin Powers would have been cryogenically frozen during Thatcher's rise to political prominence. It's conceivable he may have heard about her when she was a lower level English politician, but she assuredly wouldn't be the first person he would think of when imagining unattractive women to suppress his erection.

Don't apply logic and reason to Austin Powers.

But if you listen to Mike Myers talk about the movies he made, he speaks about how much he thought about every joke. Like in Wayne's World's Bohemian Rhapsody scene, the studio executives wanted him to put a Guns N' Roses song in instead, but he fought for the song he felt made the joke work. It's weird that a seemingly smart writer who cares deeply about minute details of jokes would let such an obvious anachronism through.

I agree. Private businesses should be able to turn down any customer for any reason, so long as there are comparable services. It's called capitalism, and if people don't like what a business is doing they can give the next guy money. Of course if someone goes out of business for doing scummy shit that's fair, next too.

The free market allowed Jim Crow to exist for a century before the government forcibly integrated schools and businesses throughout the South. The Civil Rights Movement didn't win because white Southerners came to their senses and accepted that blacks were people just like them. Segregation was ended because US Marshals forced it to end at gunpoint. The free market had nothing to do with it.

Mass Effect's massive story stakes make follow-ups really hard to do. People love the characters and setting, but what do you do after Mass Effect 3 then? You can keep the stakes high like Andromeda, but that failed in part because going to another galaxy means a lot of the setting is abandoned. I wouldn't mind seeing something smaller scale, like a C-Sec officer game. Anything that takes place chronologically after 3 is off the table.

Mass Effect had ambitions of being a trilogy where decisions you make in the first game had some consequence in later games and it basically succeeded enough at that. It had a very specific goal and story to tell that, once resolved, doesn't leave a ton of milk in the franchise tit to squeeze out. I'd rather Mass Effect be left alone that used and abused like Halo was after Bungle left.
