Donald Trump is the GOP now. He was able to hijack the party by taking the GOP platform of the past few decades to their logical conclusion.

All open world games are shallow walking simulators.

Bore of the Walking just makes it worse with a lack of enemy variety, random rain that hinders exploration in a game ONLY about exploration, flimsy weapons, minimal music, minimal story, minimal content, and absolutely no Zelda elements other than Link, Zelda, and the generic monster they assure us is Ganon.

I mean, Drakkhen was hated back in 1989 for the same reasons.....

A lot of those games were awesome, but nobody played them.

Wii U flopped BECAUSE its games were shit.

Just like Switch wasn't doing too much better than Wii U until Mario saved E3 2017 and THEN real hype for it started to build.

.....But yeah, my Switch has been an Odyssey adapter. Now it's going to be an Odyssey + Kirby + Mega Man adapter for 2018.

Ike is the God of all FE characters.

He's not even the strongest unit in his own games.

This Ike bullshit really has got to stop. The only reason he's not the absolute worst character in the franchise with his boring Gary Stuness is because Xander happened.

well up until awakening it was a relatively obscure series

-Fire Emblem was a mainstream success in the 90s in Japan. (Awakening's Japanese sales are actually lower than Genealogy of the Holy War's and especially Mystery of the Emblem's.) Hence, there was a big movement for Marth being added to SSB, which leads us to.....

-Fire Emblem characters were in SSB, meaning everyone knew about the series by that point. The advertisement was there. And almost everyone knows of Ike despite his games being commercial failures. *Coughbecausetheywereshitcough.*

Awakening didn't bring new awareness to the series. It brought more incentive for different crowds to buy the games.

Sacred Stones was "casualized" in the sense that it added a world map, which added grinding spots and shops, but permadeath and difficulty were still big issues.

No. SS was casualized in that they stripped away all the difficulty. The traditional early game crutch unit who sucks and needs to eventually be benched was turned into a unit who can solo the damn game with ease. Player units were buffed across the board while enemies had lower stats. (Especially the monsters which make up almost the entirety of the last stretch of the game.)

And things have progressed worse with each game. As of Fates weapon durability is gone meaning Ryoma and Xander with their legendary weapons (Which are also OP for all kinds of reasons.) are absolute gamebreakers.
