Starter budget (500/$660), looking for preferably two speakers connecting to a PC (to replace a Logitech Z623 2.1 system). Would like audio clarity at loud volumes, e.g. enough to throw a garden party, and reasonable bass. Any suggestions on where to start? Have done some research, which has thrown me off generic 2.1 PC speakers and more into the DAC + cab realm.

Also, is there any crossover with audio cabs vs bass guitar cabs? I'm also a bassist but use a combo amp.

Just curious. I have two screens with my PC and normally I'll have some shite on YouTube on the second screen with whatever I'm doing on the first. If I'm watching a video for the purposes of watching a video, then it goes on the main screen and I turn the other one off.

Quite nice to be able to play some Deus Ex with a (legal) stream of the F1 on the other monitor.

Well, this is exciting. A few friends of mine are bringing their PCs over tomorrow evening for some old-school Unreal Tournament and Age of Empires LAN games. This will be our first one since we were legally allowed to drink, so it's over a decade. Wow.

Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure how to run a LAN party with everything being wireless now. My PC is at the back of my house, with the internet router at the front. I have a single LAN cable that runs through a hole in the wall, outside, and then back in again to serve my PC. Everything else in the house is wireless and the signal from the back of the house is very laggy.

I have an old router and a couple of ethernet cables I could potentially plug into each PC. It wouldn't be hooked up to the internet, there are only 4 of us, but would this work to connect the PCs to each other? Would I need to do any fancy IP config stuff?

Any tips greatly appreciated.

I take the Mercedes through an automatic car wash, the paint is pretty dulled so I don't really care about keeping it looking factory fresh. Just clean is fine.

The Subaru goes to the local hand car wash, they do a decent enough job but again the paint isn't pristine so swirl marks aren't a concern.

I wash the Aston Martin by hand, two buckets, microfibre mitt, posh wax etc. Pleasant way to spend Sunday afternoon with good music, good beer, and perhaps some pork in the slow cooker.

Two iPads, two iPhones (ok, my old 6 goes back on Monday) but never had any issue worse than a dead headphone, and arguably since my missus accidentally stood on it wearing her stiletto heels, no complaints.

My Android phones have been indestructible, in fact one of the first things I do with my phones is to run them under the tap. If they fail (only my old POS galaxy S7 did) then I just return them.

I have an Android phone and an Apple phone.

I prefer the iPhone for day to day stuff, but prefer the Android for stuff over and above calls/messages etc.

I wouldn't swear allegiance to either of the phones but I do find myself going for the iPhone out of convenience, whereas I save the Android phone for more finicky stuff. Couldn't pick between them.

Note: iPhone 6S and Xperia XZ1 Compact. One's a work phone, one's a personal phone.

I watch WWE wrestling occasionally, no real knowledge of what's going on but since they moved away from pay per view a few years back, is there a "special" on every weekend? Where they show photos of the special on TV instead of actual fucking video?

I had a trial with the WWF network but didn't bother renewing after a month. I can't understand how they seem to make more programmes in a week than there actually are hours in the week itself. There's saturated content and then there's WWF. Really don't think I'm missing much if it's being made available 24/7 for the "look look something interesting might happen!!" style of advertising.

In all honesty, when I joined GameFAQs about 15 years ago, I am convinced the average userbase age was under 18. Fast forward to 2018 and I suspect the majority of people that spend their time on message boards are 21+. The kids these days use snapchat and twitch and god knows what else.

I really hate saying "the kids these days" as I actually realise there's been a paradigm shift from what I grew up with, to what the schoolkids these days are doing. I am outdated.

I do it pretty regularly. The hardest speeches I do are to school kids, ages 13-17. Normally speak to 60-90, had an audience of 150+ before. At that age they're pretty impressionable and the "cool kids" are the ones that try and ignore you. I either engage them in debate or just embarrass them in front of their peers. The second is hard to do but very satisfying when you get it right.

So, basically, if you're not in the clique and ask an honest question, you get downvoted while reddit circlejerks itself about how they booted out a newbie. Think of the internet in 2003.

I bought reddit gold and then pretty much demanded a refund. I spend my time there just pissing off the idiots who don't understand there's a world outside a redditor. Mods, this is an actual term.

My condolences to you and your family. This is undoubtedly a situation that's extremely difficult to contend with and I don't doubt the amount of emotion you must be feeling.

There's a saying I like to live by when I've lost family members and friends in the past - cry not for what has happened, but smile because it has.

If you're feeling fragile, which you're absolutely correct to feel, then please don't read my spoiler text below. If and when you feel a little more compos mentis, then have a quick read.

Preface: if you're still raw over the loss of your spouse, and any mention of her or the way she lived her life is painful, don't read this.

Seriously. It's literally one step forward and three steps back.

No further warnings.

When I've suffered losses, I always try and think of the positives to carry me forward. Their personality will live on with me.

Focus on the simple things - for example, did she have a certain routine that you both laughed about? For example, if you threw a bunch of whites into the washing machine on a Saturday she'd tell you off because whites day was Sunday? Or, perhaps, after her late gym session on Thursday she'd bring back two large hot chocs from Starbucks for you two. Or, maybe she'd get her dance on to Maroon 5 - Sugar whenever it came on the radio, and she was a terrible dancer but you both laughed and danced anyway.

It's up to you to carry on with these traits and make them your own. She can live vicariously through what you're doing and it's a nice way of carrying on her legacy. She may have passed on in body, but her spirit is alive and well with you. To reiterate - don't tear yourself up because she's gone, but laugh and embrace the effects she's had on your life.

It's very bittersweet and much harder to do than some words from a stranger on a video game message board, but if you keep your chin up and soldier through the natural emotions, I truly hope you can minimise the emotional pressure as much as you can.

Don't forget to ask your friends and family for help as and when you feel is right.

I like to do the side quests too rather than blitz through the game. Very annoying when you've got all of the story missions to do and the enemy spawn rate is as high as it can get. Also breaks some in-game dialogue. Perhaps Ubi were focusing more on the casual gamer who doesn't want to bother with the side missions.

7/10 for me. Great game, very polished, incredible graphics, but as I've poured a few dozen hours into it the storyline is a little repetitive and the enemy spawn rate is ridiculous. I've missed out on loads of challenges/objectives thanks to enemies continually spawning.

Overall it's a great game but with the edges that have been polished, a few new rough burrs have appeared.

Smoked for 10 years from 15 to 25, started vaping two years back and I've happily kicked the vape for over 6 months now. Haven't smoked for nearly 3 years.

I understand why people smoke, I don't let them smoke in my house or my cars (vaping is fine), but if they want a cig then that's their choice.

I can get around London fairly easily without a nav, but I'd probably have to stop and ask for directions once I get to the general area. For example, I know how to get from my house to, lets say, Kingston, but if yo told me to go to Links Avenue in Kingston I'd have to ask where that was.

My route may not necessarily be the fastest, but I'd be comfortable getting there.

I love my job. I get paid to work 40+ hours a week, which realistically is spending 40+ hours a week playing with aeroplanes and making them go from the ground to 7.5 miles into the sky.

I could sit at home for an extra 8+ hours a day and I'd hate it. The most productive thing I'd do is go for a shit and give the recycling worms something to eat.
