I am allotted a budget of $20,000 for the year, and I will spend it solely on necessities. So it depends on how much travelling you do. My $20,000 budget will likely be enough to pay my own way as long as we don't get too extravagant. I won't pay rent, however. I will insist on a place to stay being provided for me. You get the money only upon the conclusion of the 365-day period.

Well.. current apartment has lockers in the basement. You could be down there and remain within 20 feet of me without being in the actual apartment. So I'd just have to give you rides (in the trunk of the car, most likely) whenever I go somewhere, and that'd solve it.

Ah. I suppose it would depend on the level of maltreatment. If you treat me badly enough I will run away and you won't get a penny, obligating you to find a way to restrain me for an entire year. Which probably wouldn't be feasible unless you never leave your apartment. It would be difficult to pin down the level of common courtesy sufficient to ensure my cooperation, but my standards likely won't be very high compared to the average person.

I sleep roughly 8 hours a day, and I would require at least 1,500 calories a day. I could pay for and cook my own food, and yours as well if you'd like.

No, anywhere within 20 feet is fair game. I can be on the other side of a wall. But we would need to stay within 20 feet of each other in the process of getting into these separate rooms.

How much money do you make exactly? I'm being paid around $3,500usd per month (after taxes) and will likely get upwards of a $500/month raise in September while also getting a free apartment, meals (2 per day/5 days per week), yearly bonuses and a free round trip flight anywhere every year.

@Zikten exactly. I worked oil/wind before this. That money paid for me to travel a lot. Now I have a family and not in any rush to return to Canada. Teaching allows me to stay here. Plus with what I'm making in China right now, I'd be hard pressed to make as much in Canada unless I go out into the patch which I'm not really interested in doing.

And yes, those topics were literally me complaining about having teens hit on me. It's something that happens to most younger male teachers who work anywhere in Asia (have a friend in Japan who has the same thing happening to him).

I had a dream about you last night. It was rife with symbolism, I think. You told me where you lived though I didn't ask and I don't think you actually thought I'd try to find you. I did anyway out of spite. I found you, but you were busy because your father was trying to have you baptized. You got out of it by running away and I got a chance to talk to you, but you were pretending I wasn't there and not acknowledging my presence in any way. Just when I was thinking "oooookay, whatever ..." and getting ready to leave, you initiated some kind of video call or something. Whatever happened to all those people who spent time with me here in this lonely little corner of my mind? All those silly tossed-off names representing real people with goals and dreams, people who lived and loved and hoped and feared. People who were sensitive to criticism, and people who were humble and self-deprecating. Stubborn people who couldn't admit when they were wrong, and fiery, passionate people committed to changing the world. Surly people who wanted to be left alone, and carefree, charismatic people who wanted to make friends. All just pixels on a screen, but they were the closest thing to a community I've ever known. Where have they all gone? Many of the names filling my screen have changed, but I think the real difference is the eyes that once watched that now stare dully. I don't know any of you. You have names and you have pixels, but you're cold and you're robotic and you say the same things over and over again, and you can't reach me anymore. And I'm all alone as it turns out I always have been.

Is it a little frightening to think of all the time you've spent here? Those seconds ticking into minutes, then hours, then days, weeks, months, and years? Think of all the people who have passed through, with this place just a minor footnote on their way to new adventures and new horizons. Do you ever get that crushing, suffocating feeling that you're desperately treading water in the same old pool and slowly sinking lower and lower while the water creeps closer and closer to your lungs? Or is that just me?

I have done some thinking about why I love silly hot-blooded shounen targeted at kids so much. It plays on some pie in the sky ideal of how I wish life worked. It sells me this fantasy of effort and sheer force of will overcoming any obstacles in life. I self-identify because I'm not talented or useful or valuable in any way, so it's such a seductive dream. If I try harder, if I want it more, if I just refuse to accept my limitations, I can overcome the fact that I'm a useless fuck-up.

I gather in all this positive energy to try to combat my growing cynicism and disaffection, but it's aimless and unfocused. It just bleeds off me in waves to dissipate in the surrounding air, and I feel myself growing more insubstantial by the day as I willingly turn myself into a mindless junky consuming endless media to fill a hole inside me. And it's not even a real hole, just something sold to me at bargain basement prices with intentionally impossible instructions on how to get rid of it. But it's all just a worthless abstraction I foist on myself to keep occupied and obfuscate the fact that at this point I only exist to chase after a refraction of a memory I've forgotten long ago.

Nobody of any consequence. Just random garbage washing up on a beach. I've only ever seen you on CE, so it had to have been here. I was just wondering if you're still feeling down about this whole CEdrama thing despite the trolling. Having a love interest is awesome, but for someone who's been open about her struggles to make and keep friends it must have hurt to feel stabbed in the back by people you let yourself be open with.

Does it really not bother you the way people have been treating you here? I mean you seem pretty thick-skinned and have been ignoring or brushing it off, but it's been awfully mean-spirited. You've spent a lot of time here over the years whether it's shitposting or killing time or whatever. Now you've suddenly become public enemy #1 and everyone's coming out of the woodwork to drag you through the mud and make "jokes" insinuating you're a rapist, pedophile, murderer, criminal, and all manner of other vile things with no proof. So what exactly is wrong with any of this? They want to build a relationship? Most people do. Why is it fake? Because they haven't met in person, even though this thread is about the fact that they're planning on meeting in person? The fact they met on gamefaqs? Who cares where they met? A niche site like gamefaqs actually seems like a good place to meet someone with similar interests, and if you click together I don't see why it matters. Making it as public as possible? I recall a couple early gushy topics (pretty common for infatuated people), but most of it now is coming from others.

Your "game" is to harass somebody and insinuate all kinds of nasty things about him. And your "game" is to treat someone else like she's a moron who needs to be rescued because she's too silly to know what she's doing. Again, at some point don't you have to self-reflect a little and wonder why you're drawn to these topics like a moth to flame? And why bullying people is such great fun? Or I guess we could just handwave it because the hivemind has decided they deserve it. Whatever.

It seems a little sexist that everyone's characterizing smoliske as the abuser and joestarrr as the damsel in distress when they're two peas in a pod. Imagine smoliske's wonder upon finally finding a CEgal desperate enough not to get turned off by his clingy come-ons. Imagine joestarrr's little heart going pitter-patter as she finds someone patient enough to navigate through the minefield of her neuroses and tell her everything she wants to hear and nothing that she needs to hear. When smoliske's smoldering passion meets the tempest in joestarrr's overfilled teapot, I think it will create a beautiful fire whirl reaching to the heavens. And you know, even if it doesn't, at least they tried. It may well be a mistake, but mistakes help us grow. You can all pat yourselves on the back for your self-important, patronizing lectures (as if you know them better than they do), but in the end they're trying to build something while you're just trying to tear it down. With even the audacity to pretend that you're doing so for their sakes. I think you would all be better for taking a little time to turn your spotlights on yourselves and try to figure out why you want this to fail so badly.
