It's based on a subset of Japanese culture that has nothing to do with blackface. It does, however, end up looking like blackface. This though doesn't look remotely like blackface, and it is more telling of the people that see blackface in a monkey costume than it is of the episode in question. I looked up images and descriptions for what jynx is supposed to be based off of and I'm still confused about where the black skin and clown lips are coming from. It has nothing to do with black people. They can call themselves female, represent themselves as female and feel like a female but they can never be a truly biological female. Its a sad fact of life but we cant always be what we want.
