if police get involved in the former (i.e you get a message from a police department via text as a warning for you actions) people would revolt, and if they get involved in the latter it could cause these threats to become reality

taking a product developed through many manhours is wrong, but that won't stop people

and people who look at it like it doesn't matter; you need to vote with your wallet. if a product is good and you want more, you buy it. if it isn't good, you get a refund.
