Personally I want sequels more than prequels. I yearn for a post-Voyager Star Trek show. Prequels are infinitely better than "throw it all out" reboots though, in my opinion.

I have mixed feelings over the grimdark sequels but they didn't take the easy route that's for sure, even if my suspension of disbelief is stretched to its limits at the notion the destruction of one system could cripple a republic of thousands of star systems.

Was it edginess/drama or was it that they had to die to explain why they don't appear in the main series.

Maybe I'm confusing my terms. I'm talking about the old novels prior to the Disney reboot.

Not really tinfoil hat but I just find it odd that there are always 3 or 4 new people that pop in these random political topics, post only here in these topics like once on this board and never post again. Just what compels them? Go whine about it on whatever home board you're lurking from.

Or even Voxwik, he even appears more politically aligned with me but who even is he and where did he come from? Lmao

I am easy to troll.

I admit I will bow out if I said my piece to avoid getting into feedback loop arguments. I tend to come here to look for topics about the current poll then get sucked into others sometimes.

That said a USA president openly praising an adversary while trying to undermine the credibility of his own country's intelligence agencies is stunningly unprecedented, even on top of his efforts to undermine vote tallies and the justice department.

I never liked him, but I'm amazed he's still in office. What does he have to do to get removed? Declare war on California?

It takes a lot more than being a liar or verbally trying to undermine checks and balances to be removed. He hasn't personally been found to have dinner anything yet.

It is fun imagining the far right fury if a Democrat said a tenth of what Trump has. The guy has gone so far as to outright ignore vote tallies in a blatant attempt to discredit any opposition. He has implied "true" patriots are loyal to him personally. There is still hope our checks and balances will prevent him from destroying political freedom, but he is trying very hard to get the ball rolling to do just that.

Republicans have successfully weaponized the term 'liberal' into a hated caricature. Trump is using that to get his to thralls to call his enemies the enemies of the country.

Are people seriously unaware of his consistent praise of dictators for their "strength," consistent downplaying of Russian meddling, consistent blatant lying that somehow he gets away with in the face of reality even when his allies call him out on it, and consistent disdain coupled with either a dishonest or delusional attempt to discredit any opposition to him?

The man has literally outright lied or is delusional about the popular vote, implying it's fake and continually pushing the blatantly false accusation of mass voter fraud, something even Republicans acknowledge that not only he's wrong about, but that he endangers the entire political process by trying to legitimize it?

He lies so much it's tiring. Just a drop in the bucket is his calling anyone who opposes him "Democrats," including Republican-appointed investigators. The man is either a liar or delusional, and the fact anyone is foolish enough to fall for his antics is disturbing. Notice how quickly they turn on any Republicans who oppose what he's doing. He is following all of the classic patterns would-be dictators use.

The man literally defended torture, something that anyone that holds real American values should condemn unconditionally like the hero John McCain does.

He really should not be underestimated.

Sit back and read through his entire Twitter feed (which I read because ignoring him is far more dangerous). The guy is nuts.

Confused by this post. Paul Ryan already is a Yes Man speaker for Trump. Sabotaging healthcare has been a goal of his all along. And he's always been open about how much he idolizes Ayn Rand and her philosophy of "f*** every else."
You seem to think something about him is different than was ever presented, or that he's somehow not everything you already fear about the next speaker.

At one point, Boehner became the leader because the last guy was a "RINO"
Then Boehner became a "RINO" and was replaced by Ryan, who is now also a "RINO" and will soon be replaced.
And none of them significantly changed their positions from the start of their tenures. If anything, they tended to shift to the right slightly.

My point is even in the face of all that, some of these people still call out Trump. That is how off the rails dangerous Trump is.

The rollercoaster that is my feelings that my first vote ever was for Paul Ryan's first term is bizarre beyond belief.

I went from being blissfully ignorant to shameful to now "well at least he sometimes chooses country over party."

I wish he wouldn't retire. The idea of a Trumpian yes-man as Speaker is nauseating. Considering the vile Republican attempts to outright sabotage health care it really emphasizes how horrible Trump really is that I am praising Paul Ryan.

Look okay the shameful attacks on John McCain by Trump's thralls. People need to wake up before we have a literal dictator. It is long past time to stop underestimating what Trump is capable of.

Decades of alliances and international cooperation are at risk, even beyond the war to delegitimize opposition votes.

That's not that strange looking at storage trends. Until a couple years ago SD card memory was doubling in size every year for the same price. It would be something like 2-4TB by now if the trend continued at the pace it was.

I've been using over 100GB on my phone for a few years with SD cards. While I can't imagine using 512GB, it's nice to see technology progress, as long as they don't try and tack out the SD card slot again.

Then again Samsung has gotten more Apple-like over the years locking down their devices from people who paid money for them anyway.

Someone tried to get me to watch it by showing a "great" clip where the joke is that a breakfast-making Rube Goldberg machine actually shoots the user with a gun. I found it entirely unfunny and actually gross. It's just not my kind of humor from what I saw.

The other Seth MacFarlane movie I saw was an awful cowboy movie with toilet humor basically. Rarely do I hate a movie so much I don't even want to sit through to the end. Again it's just not my type of humor.

I'm glad a friend suggested I give The Orville a try because I actually love that. You can tell he really loves Star Trek and sci-fi. I think it is a better Star Trek than Edge Trek: Discovery by a mile. It puts the characters and story before the humor and excels due to that in my opinion.

I also remember when MMOs and MOBAs were reviewed without partiality.

PUBG was basically "critically acclaimed" despite being a vapid asset flip that's technically broken, rife with hackers, and artistically bankrupt. It can't even hold up its copyright in court - it's that fucking generic. Casual audiences have driven the industry for a while now but the hype train is bleeding into the review scene, making "professional" reviewers more worthless than ever. Hell, IGN (I know) gave PUBG a fucking 9.5. Hollow Knight scored lower in the same year.

...but yeah, everyone chalks it up to Battle Royale being "fun" and "those most tense experience they've ever had in a game" which is an interesting sentiment. It's almost as if these "people" have never played games before.

Not everyone having opinions that are carbon copies of your own isn't some sweeping problem.

The current poll is an example of the end game doomsday in which there is no such thing as paying once for any piece of media.

I don't pay for streaming music services. The Amazon Music app gets one star from me for its unremovable constant blue banner advertising streaming. I buy music from Amazon because I hate iTunes and Google has a pathetic two time lifetime download limit that is a stepping stone in the war against one-time payment licenses.

This isn't just a problem with this poll though. GameFAQs polls are very often horribly constructed because they contain far too detailed reasons with the responses. Many polls have mutually exclusive options due to that.

Also the President is trying to start a trade war with China and a real war with Russia. We need actual leadership right now, so losing Ryan will hurt.

It's an indictment on the entire American political system that anybody views Paul Ryan as a reasonable man.

My first time voting I asked my brother who to vote for... and it was for Paul Ryan.

Years later I felt dumb for that... Go figure even worse people are in power now and Paul Ryan was a potential defense against the attempts to delegitimize elections (it should be way bigger news Trump outright makes up millions of illegal votes). Trump consistently laments the justice department doesn't protect him and go after voices of dissent.

This is really bad. It would be a mistake to invoke Germany. This is our own blend of authoritarian takeover but it isn't too late.

The president has many millions of people that take his word over factual information. That should scare people way more than it is.

There are valid complaints about old engines but this one is fine. The only time they should really replace it is if the coding was s*** in the first place like certain online games.

That reminds me of EverQuest. They added computer controlled mercenaries. Later they made it so bags can hold more than ten items.

Because every item function in the game was programmed with fixed slots in mind, allowing bigger bags took more work than the entirety of the mercenary system...

They did not expect that game to run for going on two decades when they made such ridiculous design choices. I think at one point the characters were stored in individual text files on the servers... No database.

Obviously ditching the engine made sense for a sequel, which they did. Just both games are still active separately...

you can't use a 15 year old engine forever, bethesda.

Game engines are not like car parts the only reason to start over entirely it's if it is more expensive to modify than start over.

They have actually replaced large portions of it since Morrowind.

Windows 10 100% positively has large chunks of code from the first Windows NT, as does any OS from earlier versions.

The idea that because code is "15 years old" it should arbitrarily be scrapped is nonsensical.

Complaints about Bethesda using old engines are pretty much a meme.
