I fully support more restrictive gun laws, but you're making yourself look stupid by posting this.

What was incorrect about it?

I'll explain it to you if you really need me to explain it to you. Do you need me to?

Please

They are making the mental health argument. They are trying to claim that it isn't the gun that is the problem, but the repetitive violent actions that leads to Violent people. That is why they will make claims like owning a gun is fine, but simulated murder is not. Because the gun itself doesn't turn people into murderers, but killing people all the time in games does.

To quote Westworld, these violent Delights have violent ends.

And this changes what about the tc statement?

Its still saying the virtual gun is a bigger danger than the physical one. Its still moving the blame to game as the bigger threat.

- Get a roommate.
- Find a charitable roomy whos willing to pay majority of the bills. Moms, a girlfriend, best friend, etc
- Find a shitty likely bad neighborhood to live in
- Eat shitty unhealthy food
- Live a miserable funless life with 1 or 2 more jobs. (Tell yourself everything is awesome, to get through the day)
- wish on a star no health issues or financial disaster occur.
- get govt assistance if its available for you.
- live in a box, or a car if you have one.
- hope a rich person sprinkles money on you with trickle down economics.

Those are some of your lovely options.

Not to make light of your situation, its just sad minimum wage has barely moved, but inflation and cost of living has only soared.

That Smash won't come out in 2018

Pretty sure he said its unlikely. Pains me to agree as I want this game 2018, but he isnt wrong.
BotW and Smash 4 are prime examples to pushed release dates. To that being said, I welcome with open arms to Nintendo releasing 2018 and proving us wrong.

The news that this game is releasing on the switch and possibly 2018 at that truly turned around my awful work day.

that's not nothing

No we don't. It baffles me that people still blindly trust release year announcements with so little information. I bet you thought Breath of the Wild was coming out in 2015

Stop trying to kill our hype. :'(

I had to refrain not looking like a lunatic at work moments ago. I just got the news and it brightened up my shitty day.

Smash is literally my favorite game next to LoZ.

The evidence is pretty solid that violent video game exposure increases aggression, but it's silly to blame school shootings on this.

I have a hard time believing this since violent games do the opposite for me. Whenever I feel like punching a wall or yelling at someone I play a shooter or something just as violent. It takes the stress out of me and after I'm finished with the game I don't feel aggressive IRL.

Take what he said at face value.

While its true studies show it cause aggression, theres plenty of studies that prove the opposite as well.

In particular to your case, studies showing it relieving aggression.

It already does. Many stores have policy dictating they will not sell AO rated games.

Mostly all pornos. Nothing to which Im speaking of like CoD or GTA.

Law makers can try, but theres no way thats happening and sticking without extreme backlash.

IMO if games devs/companies are smart, Im sure they can rally the gaming community to match the NRA. Maybe back in the 90s this would work, but not now.

Is that something that would really happen?

Not banned, no. Stores just won't sell them.

That wont happen either. The worst case scenario is a law enforcing something most retail chains already do barring online. So if anything, itll effect the online side of retail. And thats not saying much since if a parent is willing to walk into Target and buy GTA for their 7 year old, I fail to see how requirement of ID online would be some deal breaker.

Games definitely wont be banned and the flipped can be easily flipped back at guns.

Its only amusing to discuss so that at very least why im here.

The fact of the matter is plenty of studies have been performed and studies support both and both cherry pick. You coming in and claiming the side you believe is unbiased is about as relavent as me coming in and saying the same while posting the evidence that proves my case.

Not really, as I've actually looked through this literature before.

Again as relavent as me or anyone here on this board claiming the same with evidence that contradicts yours claiming unbias.

It is false as the opposite can be argued with evidence.

Not if you actually look at the evidence in an unbiased manner. You can cherry pick certain studies, or misrepresent the claim one way or another, but the causal effect of violent video game exposure on aggression is pretty much one of the most replicated effects in social psychology.

Even in the most prominent detractor's meta-analyses, he still finds evidence of the effect, which he simply argues is of a sufficiently small effect size that we shouldn't care about it. But it still exists.

Everything you just said can be said against you.

The fact of the matter is plenty of studies have been performed and studies support both and both cherry pick. You coming in and claiming the side you believe is unbiased is about as relavent as me coming in and saying the same while posting the evidence that proves my case.

So again as I said earlier, the evidence is pretty solid that violent video games exposure doesnt increase it as well.

Theres nothing concrete and both cling onto this idea of being unbiased evidence.

Thats the rule already.

A 7 year old cant walk into Target and buy GTA.

How does the law work on this exactly? Honest question.

There is no law preventing a 7 year old from buying GTA. Checking for ID to confirm you're an adult for M rated games is store policy, not law.

Ninja'd, but this.

With that being said, ignoring the absurdity in blaming games, its the parents responsibility to not buy GTA for a 5 year old.

Cashiers in mainstream stores as far as Im aware are not suppose to sell M rated games without a valid ID proving your 18+. Same as buying a cigarette.

A 7 year old cant go into Target and buy M rated gamed. At least not in mainstream stores like Target, Walmart and Gamestop. Any cashier letting that fly in at the very least those 3 companies are breaking company policy.
