What is this about a buffy reboot? Ironically, we know of more non-white slayers in the Buffyverse than we do white ones, so I don't necessarily have an issue here. Whiteness is not integral to the character of Buffy, unless we want to imply there is somehow less horror movie victim potential to exploit in the character being portrayed by a black woman, and there were be if the role went to a while actress. Surely, y'all know better than to go down that rabbit hole.

No. My objection is the idea of a Buffy reboot at all. That's straight trash. I no longer trust Whedon with that series. I don't care if he made it. It's not needed. most of the original is still just as relevant now as it was then. Somethings need to be left alone.

I'd love an Onslaught adaptation, but it might need a movie or two to set it up.

If your first plot is Magneto forming the acolytes and ends with Fatal Attractions, Wolverine getting FUBAR'd and essentially written out for the franchise for a bit, and Xavier mind killing Magneto.

Then your second plot could be the arrival of Bishop in the present, the prevention of a shady Xavier assassination plot, and the accusation that one of the X-Men is actually Xavier's assassin. The movie ends with the Onslaught reveal

And your third movie is figuring out the 'why' and 'how' of Onslaught, and coming up with a plan to save him from his issues before he kills everything.

Anything that doesn't involve Wolverine or Phoenix. or the focus being on fucking Mystique, or Prof X or Magneto.

Yes, please. I'd love to see a Mystique storyline with Mystique as a kind of Forrest Gump figure across the 20th century, only she's there in her capacity as the world's deadliest assassin, that no one knows about. Sprinkle in her on again, off again romance with Destiny and their adoption of Rogue and I'm in heaven.

Or we could do Cyclops and Phoenix raising Young Nate Grey in a distant future dominated by Apocalypse. They know he's their son (for simplicity, no Madeline Pryor), but have to conceal who they are for plot reasons and pretend like their his adopted family for years only for him to discover it when they're being forced to return to their own time. I'd do it as one of a trilogy centering around Apocalypse and his crimes in the past, the future, and finally the present. It'll let you set up a major kick ass moment for Cable when he shows up in the present coming for Apocalypse's ass. And it'd a great opportunity to let people see why Cyke and Jean worked as a couple, which the original trilogy never did, and which kind of got lost in the Cyclops drama of the next decade.

Giant X-Men #1 with a new team being assembled to rescue the original team from the island for Krakoa could be LIT. Cast bloat could be a problem, since you'd essentially be introducing two teams of X-Men at once, but it could also be great. I think this book more than and of them was the story that cemented themes of 'unity in diversity' that the X-Men come to symbolize, because you see the Professor travelling the world to assemble his team, and those team member retain their strong cultural identities.

IKR. The point of it is to tell people being an incel is bad.

It's more specifically critical about modern western society's masculine construction and how toxic and destructive it is for the people who strive to achieve it and the people who have to deal with their collateral damage. It's also about our everyman protagonist coming to terms with the fact that he hates himself and is unable to self validate because he cannot embody the masculine ideal he idolizes. Worst still, he's deeply closeted. So even if he did, it would still always reject him.

It's more accurate to say designer brands are considerably less valuable for people locked out of these loops and communities.

We've already covered that all that is subjective. The justices, refugee issue, aca issue, etc is the definition of subjective.

It is. But we've also, during the course of this discussion, chosen to analyze all of it from the perspective a Bernie Sanders supporter voting in 2016 faced with a Clinton-Trump ballot. That perspective removes a lot of that subjectivity. There are certain priorities we would expect that voter to have, because Sanders himself had them. And indeed it was that very appearance of conviction that lead them to become a Sanders supporter in the first place.

We don't have to shrug our shoulders at the subjective vagueness of that voter. If that person is honest in their support of Sanders's political positions, we know that they would categorically reject Trump on principle.

i preferred Sanders over Clinton and a rebel vote is an acceptable protest for a convention that disenfranchises its voters and actively works unbiased such as scheduling debates during game of thrones and sunday night football

Sure, if you prioritize your protest over the likely, and deeply harmful, policy decisions of your opponents.

But if you rely on something like the ACA or some of your family is undocumented and looking for clear path to citizenship to prevent future deportation, you don't really have the luxury of that protest vote do you. And even if those policies didn't immediately effect you, I'll bet you personally know someone(s) who it would.

So, it's great that some people chose 'perfectly acceptable protest,' but contrasted with the impacts of letting the GOP dismantle the ACA, pass a ridiculous tax bill, steal at least one if not two (or even three) supreme court seats, and increase restrictions on immigration hitting both refugees and asylum seekers, those prioritizes seem more than a little divorced from material reality.

And two years in, I'm hoping that we've learned well enough to avoid repeating 2016's catastrophe.

Assuming you don't already have these supplements in your home, you're literally setting aside ~50.00 a month for bigger loads. And you're doing this purely for your aesthetic appreciation.

Sanders politics were diametrically opposed to Trump, and for Sanders himself there was never any confusion about where his support should go if he lost the nomination. It's why he encouraged his supporters to rally behind Clinton at the poll; because he found the idea of a Trump presidency completely unacceptable. Any voter who shared those political sympathies or priorities can reasonably be expected to follow in his footsteps. And hey, 90% of us did.

The question is what's going on with that bottom 10%. They appear to be Sanders supporters in name only.

Thats not what i mean. Obviously the obama is a muslim thing is stupid. Im talking about things like how a president handles something like, as you brought up, deportations. Thats an opinion because there is no right or wrong answer about if it was handled right whereas you can dsmonstrate that obama isnt a muslim. Does that make sense?

It makes more sense, but there's still room to refine the point. There are measurable metrics we can draw (or will eventually be able to draw) from each administration's deportation policies. A great one to ask in 2015 was whether or not crime per capita dropped in those cities seeing most of the deportations. If so, consideration of other possible causes and further analysis of how those causes contribute to the status quo might give me an idea of how useful such a policy was for stopping crime and whether or not the cost of that policy is reflected in our results.

There are also those examples (Muslim travel ban, ACA repeal, and our recent interpretation of the border detainment policy) for whom the impact is immediate, and for whom you don't have to see their long term consequence to know you want it to end as soon as possible because the observable results are too unpleasant to be ethically or politically viable.

its literally just preference. Or do you forget people felt the same way about Obama, for instance, that you feel about Trump today?

It's not. Some of those opinions about Obama were totally and demonstrably valid. Deportations objectively went up during the Obama administration. Many campaign promises were never filled. For all his erudite speeches, he had no idea how to brand his policies, and he wasted years bargaining with a Congress acting purely in bad faith. I don't necessarily think he deserved that Nobel Peace prize. There's volumes of valid criticism to be directed at Obama.

But you know what's not going to be in those volumes? Right wing assertions that Obama's secrets life as a Muslim socialist autocrat, who wasn't even actually American undermined his authority to serve as president and that his presence in the oval office was the result of some kind of coup. I don't talk a lot about the Russia investigation because it's ongoing and I have little reason to speculate when there's an iceberg of information I don't have. But it does provide a great contrast alongside some of the Obama conspiracy theories between what constitutes potentially valid opinions and what constitutes quackery.

These equivalences are fallacious.

I don't argue for the sake of arguing. Not all opinions are valid. Come on. There are people out here insisting the goddamn planet is flat.

You can come back when you issue a real apology and walk the walk. And if you're a person of means, maybe donate time or money to a relevant cause. Part of issuing a good apology is taking the time to step back and figure out exactly what it is you did wrong and why that thing is so disruptive, so that you can be specific and sincere when you address it later. Saying something like: "oops, I didn't realize I had an audience," isn't the same as an apology. He's just sorry, or really just embarrassed, he got caught.

And when it comes to racially charged language, you've got to dig inside yourself and realize you wouldn't have said that word if it wasn't in your heart. Him saying it isn't the disease. It's just one of the symptoms.

I come CE when I want to see (and judge) a particular kind of social mess.

A lot of western audiences are demanding more content for local viewing as well. Netflix is actually uploading shows from all over East Asia.

Guy made a mistake, served his time.

Did you see his apology? He didnt know he was recorded lmao give me a break

Yeah, that apology suggests he doesn't understand the root of this problem is the racial insensitivity he carries within himself. He's just sorry it slipped out and he got caught.

No deal.

I'm embarrassed to say I don't really know the difference between most regions. Probably Ontario since it's popular, right?

I didn't either, so I thought about what I wanted from my experience and looked up a population density map to inform my decision.

I'm equating population density with population diversity. I know this is a slight oversimplification, but my thoughts are the more people have got, the more potential you have for different types of people.

So Vancouver. I'll gamble on people making up for the generally colder weather because I'm on the cold ocean.
