If you want to learn a little more about Portuguese-American culture, you can check out the YouTube channel, The Portuguese Kids. They do funny skits and it feels like all our parents act the same way.
I even shot a video with them that spoofs Drunk History. It's called, Portuguese Legends: Anibal Milhais.

Guns aren't totems of evil that curse people into becoming spree killers after holding them, as the left-minded seem to believe.

Well not spiritually evil. Something that is specifically designed to maim, hurt and take the life away from another being as painfully as possible can be construed as a symbol of evil at least.

Also it's kind of stupid to get something and not use it the way it was designed for, right? Like who buys a car to just sit in it all day? You're going to want to drive it at some point, don't you think? Or at least imagine yourself driving...

If it were legal to kill people, then this would definitely be a gun problem. Since high-capacity guns are so easy to get, there would be many people with high kill-death ratios.
Since it IS illegal to kill people, then the only ones doing it are criminals and mentally ill people. But since guns are so easy to get, then they can kill people a lot easier. They also have much higher kill-death ratios.

So since we respect the US Patriots' God given right to hold a rifle in the air yelling Alalalala, oops I mean yelling "USA!" then we're all just going to have to be ok with a couple mass shootings every month or so.

Tldr: it's a gun problem.
