2/3

There are three situations in which you pick a gold ball first. Two of those three situations leave another gold ball in the same box.

EDIT: I think I know why some people think the answer is half. I'm guessing they're failing to account for the reduced likelihood of choosing a gold ball when initially selecting from the box with both a gold and silver ball, compared to initially selecting from the box with two gold balls.

I'm probably going to be added to ignore lists by my fellow CEJews for saying this, but I need to say it. I am (and forever will be) under herem, so I know what it's like to be disconnected from your community and faith. I still practice my faith, but must do so alone. I don't think that it matters where you show your faith, but how you show it. G-d is all around, and within us. A building has nothing to do with that. Live your life and faith to the best of your ability, and maybe G-d will reward you. At least that's what I tell myself.

Hmm. Nowadays most of the time only haredim or hassidic communities still pronounce cherem. Wtf did you do >:[

I impregnated a "shiksa", refused to abandon her, my child, or my responsibility to them, and then refused to attend the Beit Din regarding this matter. I was excommunicated in absentia.

I thought doing good stuff was supposed to make you a good Jew. Then they say you can't be around no more because you want to take care of the girl you got pregnant...?
It sounds like you're being persecuted for a technicality.

It didn't help that I was a convert. I have ethnically Jewish heritage, but my family left Judaism generations ago. I think that everything possibly could have been resolved, but my adamant refusal to attend or acknowledge the Beit Din was probably the last straw.

Have you considered reform Judaism? You can marry members of any religion without controversy.

There's no mention of a heaven or hell in the Old Testament. There is a vague reference to going to where your dead ancestors are upon your death. At least it's something along those lines. Unlike the false god worshipping Christians we Jews live for life not death. We also recognize that we are our brother's keeper because all our lives are important unlike the fake Christians in America who vote to keep literal healthcare unattainable for millions of people. That's the point of Judaism-living and community.

You do what is inside the parentheses first, before you multiply 2 to all the numbers in the parentheses. There is no coefficient because there is no variable.

I didn't say otherwise.

Sorry I forgot the second half of my post. You do what is in the parentheses. Then you divide 6 by 2. You don't distribute 2 to the parentheses because there is no variable in them.

PEMDAS is just some over simplified garbage little kids are taught in school, no different than the haiku example I brought up, or when bad English teachers tell their students not to start sentences with conjunctions. 6/2(3) is not the same as 6/2*3. The very fabric of the universe is conciousness.

I would say consciousness is an inherent property to anything that is. The richness of consciousness depends on how much information can be absorbed and how it is stored. Everything that occurs is at its very core and exchange of information. The state of all things is in essence a log of information.

Exchanges of information are inherently imperfect. I believe this includes a thing acquiring information about itself. Our subjective nature is not a result of some handicap preventing us from perceiving objective truths. It is in fact the inevitable result of existing in a universe that is inherently imperfect itself. Yet saying there is no objective truth is not the point I am getting at. That could be said, but the implication of an inherently imperfect universe is that objectivity and subjectivity are equally valid when describing the true nature of everything. Either, both, neither, or any combination of those, including said combinations are equally valid.

It can be said that this and that are illusions but they also are. They are as much as anything. One can really make whatever they want out of it, but I believe in practicality. Making things complicated is fun to think about, but in the end I care about happiness and love. There's more to gain from being practical about our experience than trying to invalidate it.

That's just my take on things.

This is also not true. I mean I was largely using direct comparisons when I brought these things up, to the previous games. That was kind of my whole point. I was listing things that make DS2 harder and more punishing in comparison to DS1, Demon's Souls, or both at once.

Bringing up something that if included in Demon's or Dark would have made those games harder does not mean that including it in 2 makes 2 harder than those other games.

I mean completing the challenge in one life. killing them, dying, then playing again without the enemies is not beating the challenge at hand.

every Souls has an easy mode: it's called summoning players to help you.

True, and that's a good thing. But what I mean is solo play is on easy mode by default.

EDIT: Many of the things you bring up to suggest 2 is challenging only make it challenging relative to what 2 could be, not to other games in the series.

If the boss isn't required to beat the game it's not as relevant to my point. I could have elaborated more. Honestly I simply did not die to the bosses. Even when they weren't straight forward, there was so much room for error, learning a strategy was unnecessary. I felt zero tension when fighting bosses for the first time. That's my experience.

Tmk posted...
Really. You have to opt into being invaded in 2. The Dark Souls where being hollow doesn't stop you from being invaded, killing the area bosses doesn't stop you from being invaded. The Dark Souls with the most aggressive invasion system in the 5 games?

I only got invaded once. I can't remember the specific mechanic, but I think "sinning" was needed to make it a likely occurrence.

Tmk posted...
No they don't. They disappear after being killed a lot, limiting your ability to overlevel through farming unless you want to kick areas into NG+ early and potentially also need to fight NG+ bosses early. Making enemy resources finite is not for casual players, it's actually quite the contrary.

The cons outweigh the pros. Putting a challenge in front of the player is at the heart of gaming. Get from one checkpoint to the next is the main challenge of the game. Removing obstacles when a player is having trouble defeats the entire purpose of trying to beat the game. It is inexcusable.

Tmk posted...
What

Dark Souls 2 had a teen rating. If you think for a second that decision wasn't made before the looks and atmosphere were designed you're kidding yourself. It's just another signal of the goals of the game's producers. They were trying to reach a mass market. All the things they did to casualize the game are part of the same strategy. This includes minor things like unnecessary breaking the fourth wall by asking players if they want to move to NG+ instead of just ending the game after the final boss fight like its predecessors and practically every game with a final boss in the history of gaming.

Tmk posted...
The hundreds of people LPing or summoning me on help for the various bosses kicking most players' asses would disagree with this inane rant of yours.

How are you going to tell me how I felt. I had a dull experience. It was tedious homework. It's not my fault most gamers are shit. This is one of the few AAA franchises that is tuned for a more hardcore audience while still providing co-op for the average gamer. Part 2 just removed the challenge and need to deduce strategies for moderately skilled gamers.

Tmk posted...
There's also vastly more weapons in the game than DS1 and especially Demon's Souls and having a maxed weapon doesn't destroy most of PvE in a first playthrough like it does in DS1, which allows you to get a maxed weapon before even fighting a boss if you want. Also this is just an asinine criticism, as an aside.

It's an important criticism. The decisions players make always carried weight in the series. It adds to the mood. Part 2 removed consequences for decisions and actions with a crazy number of slabs, grave stones if I remember correctly, not having to lose souls.

Sorry you can't see it, but it is an objective fact that there was a strategy of compromising the vision of the original game to appease casuals. Sure they tried to include things for core fans, but they were optional. They basically created an easy mode. It's a fucking joke.

World tendency is very cruel to people playing blind who like to search thoroughly.

I played blind and look very thoroughly. I thought it added a welcomed extra dimension to the game. It unlocked challenges. It made whether you play in human form or not an important decision. And it rewarded players who learned the world and who git gudded with valuable items.

Dark Souls and Demon's Souls are very close but world/character tendency and poiseless pvp put Demon's puts it on top.

Tmk posted...
Demon's Souls is inferior to Dark Souls 1, and Dark Souls 1 is inferior to 2, 3 and Bloodborne.

Nobody who appreciates what made Demon's and Dark great would ever think 2 is a good game. Part 2 sacrificed all that defines the series on a macro and micro level in order to appease casual gamers. Constant checkpoints. Easy, straightforward bosses, one after another. Items that remove worrying about losing souls. Players practically have to opt into being invaded. Enough upgrade material to fully upgrade many weapons in one play through. They literally ask players if they want to move to NG+. Enemies disappear if a player is playing poorly. They even sacrificed design freedom to avoid a mature ESRB rating. There's a ton of other shit I thankfully forgot about. But the game has no tension, not even when entering a new boss fog for the first time, no mystery, no need to get good, no consequences for actions and decisions. It is simply not a Souls game in way that matters. It's nothing short of a disgrace to the series.

MLB the Show has always been good. Online play is amazing. The pitcher vs batter battles really mimic real life strategies and mind games. Pitchers mix up speeds, locations, pitching in the strike zone or outside of it, using different types of pitches with different movement. It all happens so fast, batters have to predict what the pitcher will do, and wait for the right pitch just like in real life.
