How did you diagnose this problem? Your car battery doesn't die from driving around. The belt for your Alternator that charges the battery could have snapped, but for regular use, it shouldn't be your battery that was the problem.

Batteries generally do just die.

They fail slowly, but the difference between holding enough charge to crank the starter and not is incredibly minimal.

Likely the alternator suffered a bit recently though.

If it's the second one (paper wasps) you can probably just leave it there. They're pretty docile, the nest stays small, and they won't attack you unless you swat at their nest.
If it's the first one (bald faced hornets), yeah get rid of it immediately. Those nests can get huge, and hornets will fuck you up just for looking at them
