Compared to the highest sun exposure group, life expectancy of avoiders of sun exposure was reduced by 0.6-2.1 years." --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |

| rivers 07/03/18 1:28:16 PM #8 | >Do you have to wear sunscreen like if you're just waiting for the bus, or getting groceries, or on your way to work? It depends on the UV index, something white people should get more familiar with. In the summer I think a lot of us should use sunscreen daily, even in situations like you describe, or at least make an effort to stay in the shade. I usually don't use sunscreen, as like dolomedes I tend more to bronze, but I want to get better about it because I'm vain and don't want to photoage. --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |
| Topic | I was very disturbed by a recent poll on CE, regarding gamers. |
| rivers 07/03/18 1:14:23 PM #14 | Young adults tend to think 34 is old. When younger workers realize I'm not joking about my age, that I'm not in that 26 to 28 age range where they usually peg me, they behave differently around me. I tend to agree with my subordinates, but that's because people who are 34 typically have spent over three decades eating too much and sleeping poorly, and later often smoking, sunning, and drinking to excess, lifting weights not once in their life. I watched Die Hard 2 last night. Bruce Willis was about 34 when it filmed. --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |
| Topic | What are your plans for this Summer? |
| rivers 06/13/18 8:36:03 PM #11 | I would like to improve my 5 km time -- running in July with just a few weeks training, goal simply to beat 23:00, then again in early fall with summer training behind me; to meet women, or just a woman, in other words, to date; and perhaps to buy a house, although it will take a wonderful deal to motivate me to take a down payment's worth of funds out of my investments. --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |

| Topic | I turn 25 in a couple months :( |
| rivers 03/26/18 7:14:46 AM #57 | MrToothHasYou posted... Im a couple weeks away from 30. Heres what I can tell you about the second half of your twenties: hangovers get exponentially worse with each passing year, youre gonna start getting heartburn/acid reflux all the time (remember in your late teens and early twenties how you were like why are there constantly all these commercials for heartburn medication? Thats why. Get ready) and you will start to feel the effects of sleep deprivation more severely after 28 or so, to the point where missing a few hours of sleep will basically ruin your entire day. If you havent had kids yet, youve now passed the point at which they would have had the smallest impact on you physically, so good luck in the future. I'm a few years older than you and feel the same as I did in my late teens, although there was a period of years ending around age 26 where I felt pretty badly (chronic fatigue, hypertension and insomnia, among other complaints). My siblings, all of them older than me, have had a similar experience to you. What sets me apart from them, I think, and from the public at large, is that I have almost always had very little body fat, and that in recent years I've lifted weights (but with reduced numbers of sets and reduced frequency compared to the typical bodybuilder or strength athlete, with the so far successful aim of preventing injury). An above poster mentioned eating well, which I take to mean getting all the necessary nutrients (thinking mainly of micronutrients, but also protein and EPA+DHA), and that's important, but so is keeping off body fat, promoting mitochondrial biogenesis and anti-inflammatory myokine production by exercising, and in so doing staving off muscle mass loss associated with sedentary lifestyles (sarcopenia, which kicks in slowly as early as in one's late 20s). As far as contending with an acute bout of sleep loss, you may find that creatine monohydrate supplementation helps (PMID: 16416332). I take an average of 3 grams a day and don't experience any issues. --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |

| Topic | If you win the lottery, would you work? |
| rivers 03/25/18 8:26:18 AM #26 | if we're talking, say, a few hundred thousand to a few million, yes, but i would consider taking on part-time, more physical work, if that would be enough to pay the necessities while i let the winnings grow with roughly my current investment mix. more than that and yes, nearly in a heartbeat, but would give notice if it didn't seem that doing so would jeopardize my winnings or safety in some way. i would always strive to work towards some goal, necessary even now, as no work that i have done for pay has ever provided a sense of purpose that i can relate to unfortunately, i will never win a lottery prize, whether $500 million or $5. --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |

It was in the Midwest. I remember feeling very nervous; I think what got me is that I made excessive, probably unnecessary attempts to correct my position. I later returned to the same guy ($5 discount for having failed once). During the road portion of the test he asked questions like, "If you had to veer off the road to avoid a collision, would you target a light pole or a hedgerow?" --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |

| Topic | What year did you first visit GameFAQs? |
| rivers 03/21/18 8:05:39 PM #40 | 1998. Last I checked the website still hosts a shitty review from that year for the favorite game of 12-year-old me, although it's erroneously dated more recently. As far as the message boards, I started visiting and registering accounts in early 2000 before landing on this one later that summer. CJayC purged accounts frequently back then, or at least it seemed that way. --- -4 horsemen 4 lyfe- former administrator of showarr |
