Personally I don't think he should be confirmed but also not because he is conservative. We're getting one of those anyway. Like sephyg acts like this is a victory when really this is horrific for the GOP if he is confirmed. The democrats will use this to absolutely, without a doubt, murder the GOP for years.

This whole thing makes no sense to me. They control the senate. They're going to control the senate. Even if they somehow lose it, the democrats keeping it open for 2.5 years is political suicide and they wouldn't win the presidency in 2020.

They're going to get that seat no matter what, and this is the worst possible optics for them at this point. I just don't understand why they're doing it this way because I feel like this is going to lose them independents and moderates in the upcoming midterms.

They still have some local D's like Manchin that get state wide appeal. Plus Manchin is a great fit for WV given he is genuinely middle of the road. Well, West Virginia was sporting a KKK Democrat for years as Senator also. They are goofy.

WV is very weird like that, yeah. WV/Maine/Montana all have really interesting local politics that can differ from who they routinely vote for in national elections.

But that's sort of why Manchin is in good shape and Jones is toast no matter what he does. I genuinely do not know how Manchin will vote on Saturday though. I think normally he'd be fine with Kavanaugh. I also specifically remember him criticizing Franken stepping down because he didn't think the evidence was compelling enough, so I could see him doing the same thing here.

ONE FINAL NOTE

A lot of my new rules have been put in to reduce angle shooting (meaning - taking out of game stuff to use it in arguments in game). I will not ban angle shooting entirely, but keep this to a minimum. If you guys start talking about things that do not involve in game play, I may post a warning encouraging you to stop this.

Just play the game. I'm tired of terrible parsing of meaningless things that wind up blowing up in town's face more than half of the time. Please keep this to a minimum if possible and I may post warnings if it gets out of hand.

GAME SPECIFIC NOTES:
1. This game includes a chat for dead villagers. Upon dying, you will be added to it.
2. There are two accounts in this game that are directly under host control: ImGhostWoofWoof and Viserion. You may not vote either of these player slots. You may not use any actions on either of these player slots.
3. Flavor was kept to an absolute minimum in role PMs. This was intentional. I am tired of mod killing people because they do not know how to paraphrase. You can meta role PMs if you want, but it would be pointless. I intentionally changed up format or style. Sometimes things are rationalized. Sometimes they are not. You can paraphrase flavor if you want, but if you come close to repeating what I sent I will modkill you. Please don't do this.
4. Some of you have flavorful role names. Some of you don't. If you have a flavorful role name, you should also have a standard one if applicable. ETIQUETTE

1. An above-average level of activity is expected in this game. You are not expected to post for the whole 48 hours, but you are expected to keep up to speed with the topic. Posting only a handful of times a day is not an acceptable level of activity. If you expect to be unavoidably absent for a short period (less than 24 hours) at any point in the game, inform the host in advance. Good activity is critical to a good game of mafia and going AWOL is not fun for anyone. You need at least 5 meaningful posts during the day. If you cannot reach this, I will replace you and I will likely do it without warning.
2. Play to win. There is no such thing as being in an unwinnable position in mafia, however hopeless it may seem. If you are patently not trying, and/or sabotaging your faction, you will be on grounds for a modkill.
3. You are forbidden from talking to another player about the game outside the topic, unless you have a special board, or permission from the host to do so. You are forbidden from posting in the topic during the night phase. You are forbidden from editing or deleting posts. This includes players who have been eliminated from the game, and I would appreciate if spectators would do the same.
4. Do not post/pass on messages or pictures from another player into the topic. Do not post audio clips into the topic.
5. Remember to check your messages before posting in each new day, even if you are not expecting correspondence from the host. There may be something you need to be aware of before posting.
6. Do not attempt to bet, or stake a claim on outside forces during the game i.e. do not 'swear on your mother's life' that you are telling the truth or threaten 'to quit mafia' if something doesn't go the way you want it to. This will result in a swift modkill, as soon as it's brought to my attention. Even if the player in question is not town.
7. Play nice. Deliberate intimidation, harassment or verbal abuse of another player in a malicious and uncalled for fashion may lead to a modkill. Mafia is a game first and foremost, and while your own fun should be priority #1, everybody else's should be priority #1a.
8. Do what the Host says.
9. If I forgot an obvious rule, too bad, don't break it, etc. I reserve the right to modify these rules within reason if I forgot a rule or something similar.

MODKILL NOTES:
1. Do not threaten to modkill yourself. Even threatening to modkill yourself is grounds for a modkill so do not do it. If you feel overwhelmed, immediately contact me. Do not even post in the topic that you are asking for a replacement. Simply contact me.
2. Do not do anything that can be meta'D for out of game reasons. Do not talk about any communication you have from me at all, other than your role PM. Things outside the scope of actually playing the game cannot be brought in for any reason, and if you try to I will modkill you for it.
3. There is no benefit for mod killing yourself, so don't even consider it. A town modkill immediately ends the day. A scum modkill will allow the day to continue. There is no strategy to your benefit or your faction's benefit. Do not do it.
4. Be extremely careful about posting at the end of day. Be aware of when day ends. You cannot post after the time limit. There may be some minor leeway in certain circumstances, but it is on you to be aware when deadline is and not post after it.

THE RULES:
Stole these from like every game ever. Some slight modifications or extra stuff so make sure you read.

GENERAL
0. Don't be rude. I've modkilled people for being assholes before, and I'll do it again. Saying "your idea is dumb" is totally fine. Saying "you are dumb" is less fine but I won't warn you unless you're being obnoxious. Saying "you are dumb and worthless and your family would be better off without you" is out of bounds and I will modkill you without warning. I am only using my discretion on this, so just don't go over the lines. You know what they are.
1. Mafia is fundamentally a game of the uninformed majority (the TOWN), against the informed minority (the MAFIA/SCUM). It is the town's job to eradicate the mafia completely, and the mafia's job to survive to a point where numbers are such that they cannot lose. YOU MAY NOT PLAY BLIND. If you tell the game you're playing blind or I get the sense you are, I'll modkill you.
2. The town eliminates the mafia via lynches, which occur once a day. Everyone gets one vote which they may place on whoever they feel is scum, and then move to another player at any time. Whoever receives the most votes is 'lynched' and removed from the game.
3. During the night phase, the mafia gets it's chance to even the numbers slightly by killing one townie, removing them from the game. All power roles (under most circumstances) also get to perform their actions.
4. The game ends when one faction meets its victory condition. A player will win, even if they are dead, so long as their alignment triumphs.
5. Do what the host says. The host shouldn't ask you to break a rule, but if he says to do something that violates something else, do it. Feel free to take it up with him in private beforehand, but do it.

VOTING

1. You vote in the format '##Vote: Player', in bold. You can remove your vote by posting '##Unvote', also in bold. You can also choose to '##Vote: No Lynch'
2. The lynch is decided on a plurality system. Once one player receives votes from most of the playership left in the game, the day immediately ends, and that player is lynched. Failing that, every day has a time limit of 48 hours. The player in the lead at that point will be lynched.
2a. If there are an even number of players alive, No Lynch only requires half of the players to vote for it. Everything else requires an actual majority.
3. In the event that two or more players are tied in votes at the end of the day, sudden death will occur. A thirty minute extension will begin once indicated by the host, and only the tied players may be voted for. The moment one player emerges as the vote leader, the day immediately ends, and they will be lynched. If there is no change after thirty minutes, the day will end with No Lynch.
3a. In a tie between No Lynch and a player (or players), No Lynch automatically wins, with no tiebreaker.

ROLES

1. Before the game begins, you will receive your role from the host. This will contain your flavor name/character, your alignment, and your role, as well as some flavor text explaining your character and role. As bad as said flavor text is, I worked hard on it!
2. You must keep this role to yourself. Sharing it with anyone else within or outside of the topic will lead to your immediate modkill, as well as possibly anyone who sees it.
3. You may choose to reveal your role in-game, but you must paraphrase anything that isn't your flavor name, alignment, and role (i.e. the flavor text that came with your role - You can discuss this, but you must paraphrase it).

Jones and Manchin are both on the record being pro-investigation, which PRESUMABLY means they're nos in the absence of one, but really who knows.

I feel like that would be a death sentence for either (moreso probably Jones) as far as their seat goes. Manchin, however, ran specifically a lot of his campaign of being pro-trump.

Then again Jones might not be able to win his seat versus a normal conservative candidate anyways.

Jones is 100% losing in 2020. He's a great candidate but as long as Alabama put up "not a pedophile" for Republicans, Jones is toast.

Manchin is surprisingly like the most safe red state den right now. He's not even in the toss-up range at the moment.

That being said, he's pro-life so I doubt he would hesitate to vote for whoever Trump puts up in most circumstances. He's pretty openly supportive of Trump more than any other Democrat, except maybe Heitkamp. I could see him going either way, honestly, depending on Thursday.
