One of the early episodes has acid land on the girls and the boys react like horny perverts because their clothes start melting. Pretty good indicator of the writing quality for the rest of the series.

Better than how with some anime the only good part of the show is the openings

Like most shounen it starts with a bunch of short slow arcs to introduce each character. Then when Saito shows up it gets awesome for a long arc that finishes at just the right time. Then it catches up to the manga and hits filler hell until it's cancelled. Only a flashback of Kenshin's past from later in the manga gets animated as an OVA, but it's kinda awkward without the main arc storyline giving more context. Now we probably won't ever get the final arc because of what happened with the author.
