I'd never felt mechanically inclined but got a job running a manufacturing line that eventually entailed doing preventative maintenance/minor repairs on that line that got me doing the same on all the conveyorized equipment in the front half of our shop, which is supposed to be getting me doing the same for the whole plant in the next few weeks.

If he had a cap in the first place, there's no doubt involved. If the cap wasn't able to be secured properly, there's no doubt involved. It seems this telling of the story is leaving out a third option: get a regulation cap that secures under the chin.

What I'm saying, in a vacuum, is that it's the referee's job to check that kind of thing. In a vacuum, uniform and grooming violations are required to be corrected before the match begins. That is why, in response to your specific comment, it falls under the referee's general authority in a vacuum, without taking context into account, to check hair length before the match begins regardless of what has previously been allowed.

Feel free to reread that as much as you need to because I can't emphasize enough that I was speaking generally and not about this specific case. In this specific case, the referee has a documented history of racism and should have allowed a hair covering.

No, the referee is specifically supposed to check hair, nails, skin, uniform, etc., before proceeding with the match. That said, it turns out the rules do allow for a hair covering if length is a problem.

Why do you think Three Colours: Red, is so amazing? I thought it was good, but that was all.

I like Irene Jacob a lot. I like the connections between the other two movies in the trilogy and the connections with The Double Life of Veronique. It's also just a beautifully filmed movie.

In the same vein as Last Year at Marienbad, I also love the parallel storylines where there's a figurative game that repeats itself with the law student following the same path as the judge (although in this case, the game doesn't always end in the same way.)

I don't understand why this is something that even falls under the ref's authority. His job is to officiate the match.

Hair length is an actual rule. Not saying the ref is completely justified, just that long hair is a technical violation.

This is BS but is it discrimination from the ref or a bad rule, or a mixture of both? If it is discrimination, is it actually racial discrimination or would any male with long hair/dreadlocks be affected by this rule?

Edit: It is possible that some people know, but I feel like A LOT of people are just making assumptions.

It's an actual rule, but the referee had exhibited racist behavior in the past.

Why? That film was actually pretty boring. I mean, I really like French films, and I really like experimental films, but that wasn't very entertaining to watch.

Marienbad was OK, then it got to the part about the game that ends the same no matter how you play it and it absolutely killed me. One of the best things ever.

I actually grew up in a rural region with an economy pretty much entirely dependent on the oil industry. When gas prices drop, the economy tanks hard. High gas prices are good there.

Starting six days in a row tonight as far as I know. I'm supposed to be moving to a new department at some point though, but it will hopefully entail training a replacement if they don't just give me the new stuff on top of the old stuff (which is doable.)

Update: if my direct line of managers doesn't give the go-ahead by the end of the year, my new department will just get me transferred over and lend me out as needed. The dumb thing about having it dragged out is that I'm just moving from a department-level preventative maintenance position to a more general plant-wide preventative maintenance position under the maintenance supervisor that includes working on the same equipment.

I mentioned this in another topic about it, but it's already been decided by the Supreme Court. They ruled that the Fairness Doctrine is permissible under the first amendment because the airwaves are publicly owned and licensed to broadcasters, but not a necessity.
