Sometimes reboots make more sense than a continuation. There's too much baggage with Buffy and a lot of actors they'd need to rely on returning. They've got a lot more room with a reboot and can bring back and reinterpret characters as they see fit.

Nah man you could have them as do guest cameo's as a teacher/mentor position while keeping the focus on the next generation of slayers and new generation of villians. And as a season finale pull an Obi-wan and have them killed off by main new antagonist/group .

Well for one it wouldn't be called Buffy.

Then people would still be wondering where the old favorites are.

And they can't bring back any villains that have already been defeated by Buffy.

This is assuming SMG is even interested.

They could just make a new title you know to signal that it is a new series.
"Slayer" IMO would make for a fine title for a continuation with new slayers and all.
