What does that mean if people have more freedom to choose for themselves, the gender gaps tend to increase. for example, if the only viable option to get a good salary or social standing is to become an engineer, men and women will both try to become engineers roughly equally. but if all different careers get enough to live on, women go for stereotypically feminine careers like daycares and nurses, and men go for stereotypically male careers like factories and house building to a mich higher extent. this is of course assuming that there is enough equality that women are even allowed to pick jobs themselves to begin with. --- |
