Yes, but most comics do not. There's a reason that everyone from Alan Moore to Darwyn Cooke talked about the rut that the industry is in where nearly everything is made to appeal to an insulated fan base.

And I never said that they were not. My view long before Maher made his remarks was that comics as a medium should not be viewed any differently than prose fiction. However, the industry has shrunk so much that the medium is overrun with a specific type of story meant to appeal to the fans that have stuck around.

In other words, comics, a medium that is not inherently inferior to others, gives the appearance of being vapid just because it is swamped with stories that are so narrow in scope, even if they are well written.

Correct, but most comics are not pushing for something deep and thought provoking, they're just harmless entertainment. The point is that since comics largely try to appeal to an insular sub culture, just like video games or anime, we don't really see the medium push for something deeper than harmless genre fiction, like the Dungeons and Dragons or Star Wars books.

I agree with the notion that comics are merely different to the point that I think that Watchmen is better than many of the books people are forced to read in high school.

It's straightforward enough. You can put up an item that is in your inventory for sale at the market price and then it will automatically sell it to someone on any of the servers once they put in a request for said item. And if you want to buy, you just search for a particular item.

Runescape works well as both an RPG and an idle game since damn near every non-combat skill you can train with a near automated option. Fuck, i got into the 90s with Woodcutting while watching through Yu Yu Hakusho a while back.

Nowadays, anything not automated can have tons of bonus experience dumped into to speed it up, like Agility.

Killer7 is definitely a must, literally one of my top 3 games of all time, but it is getting re-released on PC soon. Geist is pretty underrated and had really unique multiplayer with bots.

The main flaw with it is that the game doesn't teach you the advanced mechanics or emphasize that you need to use melee attacks to save ammo.

Honestly, the game is pretty good if you correct a few minor flaws that drag the experience down when compounded:

- Turn on quick time assist to get rid of the unfair story quick time events that give you barely anytime to do them (compared to the ones from RE4 and 5 anyway)

- Turn on the auto reload option so that you only have to press the fire button to reload the crossbow when it's empty, rather than ruining your momentum by having to press the designated reload button

- Play in The Mercenaries a bit to get used to the controls before playing story

- For whatever version you're playing, look up the button combo to quickly mix herbs without needing to open the menu

- When an enemy is charging towards you while you're aiming at them, don't manually try to lower your weapon and then move out of the way. Rather, dive out of the way while aiming, as the split second that action saves you is critical.

- Try not to use melee attacks against a group of zombies. They have a habit of grabbing you and forcing you into a QTE to break free, like unarmed Ganado/Majini in 4 and 5. Melee is fine against individual zombies or small groups of this game's Ganado clones though.

Also, if you have a decent PC, get that version as it has The Mercenaries No Mercy mode where you fight a fuck ton of enemies at once and can play as the characters from Left 4 Dead 2 and fight the Witch and Tank.

The only proper way to play video games is to disregard the conferences and marketing. Fuck, at this point it's best to disregard whether the game is recent or not and just delve into the subgenres one prefers.
