That said, there is a lot of merit in the idea of requiring mandatory retesting after, say, age 60. That's a specific subset of bad drivers, though.

In the UK you need to renew regularly and get eye tests when you reach retirement.

That's sensible and would cut down on a lot of the old age-related collisions. Good luck getting such legislation passed with all of the baby boomers in their 60's now, though.

Check the statistics: age-related risk of accidents, highest risk 16-45. accident rates start dropping after age 45 with the lowest risk of accidents: 65 and older.

Find things to smile about. The roar of my BMW at wide-open-throttle in second gear on a freeway on-ramp is good for at least a half-hour of smiles. A good Tom Petty song is good for smiles all day.

Constantly aware. I built a simple pattern-matching game for oscilloscope display in 1961, watched the development of mainframe games in the 60s and 70s, arcade and home games in the 80s and 90s. 3D acceleration in the 90s made truly absorbing racing, flying, and combat games possible.

Too bad the latest generation has become less playable with cluttered graphics, multi-gb installs, and poor controls.

We arranged to meet at restaurants or shopping center parking lots, and I took a (male) friend with me. The car I sold, we met at the garage where I work sometimes, where I rebuilt the car. Actually, the three cars I have now were Craigslist finds.

Money? Not amazing, but fair deals, in cash, with clean titles and legal bills of sale to protect both of us.

Rear wheel drive roadster, fun to drive. Small enough to be a bit impractical, but so are most 2-seat sports cars. Desirable car, the modern equivalent of an MGB/TR4/Alfa Spider.

My Supra will haul anything I can shove through the hatch and fit over the folded passenger seat. 7' martial arts staves, etc. no problem.

Haven't hauled much in my BMW cabrio yet, tiny trunk restricted by the well for the top, it does have a "ski access" for loading long items through the rear seats above the driveshaft tunnel. School starts in a few days, I'll see if it can haul a few boxes of teaching materials.

I almost got an RX7 once, passed because of the limited space inside for a daily driver/occasional grocery getter.

There's a reason that a lot of classic MGs, Healeys, etc., had trunk racks.

Which car?

BMW 328ic. Factory air box looks pretty efficient, but I want to hear the intake roar. If I don't like it, I can always change back.

Reminds me of a story. A few years back, had a Ford Probe, Stage 1 mods: catback, short ram, GReddy Blue Box, shabby faded gray paint. Theater parking garage after closing a show, after midnight, fire up the car, engine cold, exhaust rumble, intake spitting, dull paint in the dark, ease around a ramp, see a friend jump back. I buzz down my window, she says, "Just like a horror movie, deserted parking garage, shadowy car behind knee-high headlights, growling and hissing... Devil Car!"
ROFL!
