She is strong, I admit that. Also very iconic. To me though, my gut instinct was to pick Spyro, that was my first feeling.

Go with your gut then. At least it will be a match you can look forward to and hope for the upset.

I have Crash over Cecil to scratch the PS1 nostalgia itch; although I'm more of a Spyro fan, ChunLi is just too strong a character.

Estimated contest strength (from memory, probably inaccurate):

Sephiroth > Squall > Tifa > Vivi > Auron > Vincent > Aeris > Tidus > Kefka > Yuna > Lightning > Zidane > Noctis > Cecil > Terra > Ramza

Personal favorites:

Tidus > Yuna > Cloud > who cares

This season is refreshing. Early favorites are Nick, Natalie, Davie, John, and Lyrsa, and there's no one I'm actively rooting against (yet). Lets hope there will be enough drama to keep things entertaining.

Im slightly concerned Yakuza fans could generate just enough buzz to turn MC vs. Goro into a nailbiter. While Ive never played the series, it seems to have solid crossover appeal while maintaining enough of a cult status feel that fans could be motivated to action. Yakuza players seem to embrace the characters and tone for striking a memorable balance of seriousness and goofiness, in stark contrast with the generic Chief.

I think Kiryu, too, could fare surprisingly well in the right context, but will fall to either L-Block or Kefka. LBlock should prove inherently weak this year but would benefit from the juxtaposition of a vs. Kiryu match pic.

D.Va has the potential to go far and should do pretty well in her earlier matchups even if no significant organized rallying takes place. D.Va > Aloy remains one of the easiest decisions on the entire bracket, imo.

Janus, yes! You were/are cool.

I wish I could remain motivated to play Rock Band 4 but they make it so difficult to stay engaged given the rate at which DLC trickles out. Those who are playing GH/RB at the highest levels nowadays are absolutely astonishing.

Oh hey man

How've you been

Always good to see old faces back for the contest. Well, almost always anyway

Thank you! Reasonably happy and doing well overall. Just taking things easy and discovering new music to appreciate, mostly.

There were a couple of years when I was really determined to make music in a serious sense as an experimental rock artist, but it hasn't happened yet. Work takes so much out of me and I tend to get mentally fatigued really quickly, even just from playing games. I'm still so obsessed with music and games that it's difficult to focus on much else, and it's not like I'm going to settle down and start a family any time soon, so there's still hope.

Hey, whaddup, this is the user formerly known as Abomstar(runner). Few will remember the name and fewer still will remember anything about me, but I spent nearly all my free time on this board from 20052006. I met a few awesome friends on here but eventually just splintered off from the larger board dynamic. I'm 27 now and have led a remarkably uneventful life, currently working an office job at a college. In 2008, Giant Bomb replaced GameFAQs as my primary source for gaming info and I've kept up with everything they've done.

Needless to say, Character Battle X has gotten my nostalgia centers churning again. I totally missed out on LBlock, Draven, Undertale, and all of that, so its been fun to research on Board 8 Wiki and try to piece together a decent bracket. Ive been enjoying reading Leonhart4's bracket analysis particularly.

Just wanted to introduce myself since Ill probably be a lurker throughout this contest. If anyone wants to add me on Switch (SW-4423-2271-4148) or on Glitchwave (username Abomstar) thatd be cool.
