I remember my friends mentioning that they were pre-ordering it, but I was working on paying off my student loans so "disposable income" really wasn't a thing for me. I didn't get mine till around 2009. Still I enjoyed Twilight Princess, probably the last decent Zelda game until Link Between Worlds came out.

I typically wear my clothes until they are falling apart, so no. Usually if I am getting rid of clothes they are going in the trash because the only thing left of them are rags. Can't say I don't get the most out of them though.

the value of things does change, regardless of if the actual product itself is the same.

Value is decided by demand though, obviously no one wants an iphone 2 because it is basically a worthless paperweight at this point. A video game can still have value, even 30 - 40 years after it's released. Whether you think it does or not is an opinion, one that you clearly don't share with a lot of people considering the popularity of things like the e-shop and the NES/SNES classic.

I haven't set foot in a Chuck E Cheese since I was 8. By then we had Putt-Putt down the road and that was WAY more fun (especially since they had newer arcade games). I do remember having a lot of fun in the ball pit, but yea it grosses me out as an adult (even ignoring kids shitting in the ball pit). It is basically a public pool with no chlorine or filters to clean it out.

When I beat it (this was YEARS ago), I basically used a constant stream of battlecruisers to cut a line directly to the objective and Yamato'd the shit out of it with as many battlecruisers as resources would allow.

It actually goes back even further then that.

Before IBM PC became the standard for DOS/Windows when you bought a PC you were tied to that PC. You couldn't swap out parts, you couldn't buy alternative software, you were tied to every single component of that machine. Apple for the most part is just adopting a policy from the late 70's/early 80's in modern times. Granted, they have become a little better over the years (switching their computers from PowerPC to Intel being a huge improvement) but they still adopt this outdated policy.

Agree and disagree. It can be good and I have seen a few really great projects happen that never would have if it weren't for it. Unfortunately more often then not it seems to be used for projects with no chance of succeeding or scams with little to no accountability for the people who try to make money off of them.

Our favorite chapter in the rodent wars comes from the Carter administration when the president threw his full weight behind the battle. A small mouse scampering through Carter's office started it in 1977. Carter called for traps and tried to get on with the affairs of state. But the mice kept intruding. One died and stunk up the Oval Office just before the president of Italy was ushered in. Another was rotting in some unknown spot when Latin American heads of state arrived for the signing of the Panama Canal Treaty.

Carter lost his patience. The General Services Administration takes care of the White House, and the Interior Department grooms the lawn, so Carter summoned officials from both to his office for a dressing down. He did not understand how he could rid a peanut warehouse in Georgia of rodents and the federal bureaucracy couldn't do the same for one little house.

The GSA blamed the Interior Department, saying all the rats were outsiders. But Carter wouldn't let the GSA off that easily. In the summer of 1977, he demanded a purge of the rodents along with confidential reports from the front. The GSA filled the house with 48 traps baited with nearly 10 pounds of poison. On Sept. 12, the GSA claimed a body count of 19, boasting that they believed the kill probably was even higher because of "several incidences of foul odors."

On Sept. 22, the GSA reported that it was winning the battle, and as evidence pointed to the desperate mice that were eating roots in the White House flower pots because they were starving. On Nov. 4, the GSA declared victory after deploying 296 traps and 141 poison "bait stations." The enemy casualties had risen to a high point of 38 in September, then fell to 10 in October and only one in November. The rodents were beaten.

Almost. Perhaps Carter wanted to leave behind a little something for the incoming Republicans, because the vermin reared their little heads again in the Reagan White House. Bush inherited them and, today, the sweet smell of air freshener is a sure sign of a coverup in the White House.

My uncle doesn't play them a lot (he is actually more into D&D then video games), but he certainly is into them. Any time he visits from San Francisco the first thing he wants to do is see what games I am playing at the time.

I will admit he is certainly in the minority compared to most gay people I have met.

Dilf never refers to the daughter alone, in those cases you just refer to her as a hot girl.

Most of the problems I have had with controllers in my life were either 3rd party controllers (NEVER buy 3rd party controllers) or design problems with the controller itself. Most of my controllers outlast the consoles themselves.

I still have a perfectly fine NES controller from 88 that is currently on it's 3rd system.

Growing up it was literally the only store that sold video games in my area until around 91 or 92 when Ho Rc Hobbies decided to slowly become a used game retailer. Even then, they were about 20 miles from my house while Toys R' Us was about 10 miles.

Granted, that nostalgia kind of died stepping into one about 3 years ago, but it was still where I got all of my video games for the first 5 years of my video gaming career.

I remember being like 5 or 6 and always begging my parents to let me go back there, and they never would. It was always a big mystery, like "I know that is where they keep the GOOD video games!" Wasn't till I was a bit older and learned what was REALLY behind there that I had a good laugh at young, naive me.

That was the only video store with a black curtain section that I had ever seen.
