So you got downtown and the San Gabriel Valley (Pasadena) etc. nearby. Lots of new places downtown - the area near Staples Center is like a version of Times Square. Old Town Pasadena can be fun - the Dodgers hang out in Old Town after games. Hollywood is a bit of a hike but doable Sunset, Hollywood & Highland. The beaches and South Bay would be kind of far.

Whatever you do don't try to see everything in one trip. You can't. Focus on a few areas and enjoy yourself.

Quite a few times. It's fun if you go with the right group but it's not really my thing.

Funny thing though, when I was in college a local strip club had this thing called "Legs & Eggs". Started at 7:30 am. $5 cover. All you can eat eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, toast, pancakes. $2 Bloody Marys.

The strippers weren't the best (7:30 am on a weekday isn't the "hot" shift) but you could get a cheap breakfast and something to help with your hangover.

The term "Gaslighting" comes from a movie called Gaslight (clever, huh?). A guy tries to drive his wife crazy (for a reason I've now forgotten). He tries to make her believe what did happen, didn't and what didn't happen, did.

In one scene he dims a gaslight. When his wife says "did it just get darker in here?" He goes on this long rant about how the lights are all the same, what's wrong with you, why am I always being accused, etc. in order to break down her belief in reality.

It's a psychological tactic to deceive.

Is that the one where she wore a green dress, but some time later she's looking for it and finds a red dress? He claims it was always red. She decides to prove him wrong and pulls the pictures from that time on the computer. The dress was red! He had photoshopped the green into red.
*Colors may have been the other way around. I don't remember*

That's gaslighting but not from the movie. The movie was from the 40's and photoshop didn't exist.
