I also prefer physical to digital, but I anyone who thinks physical is cheaper on the whole is lying to themselves. At best, some of the time you can find a gem that a store doesn't realize is valuable. This is the exception. Just admit you buy physical because it's your preference and move on.

Finished Pride of Baghdad. This was my first time hearing of it. It was certainly well above average, the character work was predictably great. I don't know that I would rank it as a must read, but it's certainly more accessible than most of Vaughn's work (given it's length) and so serves as an excellent choice for getting somebody into comics and/or Vaughn. Really happy that none of the characters seemed to do anything out of character and you could always understand their motivations, even though it's pretty short. The ending was less a gut punch for me than it seems for most, but primarily because I couldn't imagine it ending any other way. I also have a vague memory of the headline the story is based on. Doesn't necessarily make it any less frustrating, and the art made it way more effective than it would be otherwise.

Ex Machina is a series I purchased basically all of several months ago and haven't read much more than the first trade yet, so this is a great excuse to go ahead and push through. If it's any indication, I picked up Vol. 1 first and after finishing it decided I needed the rest so that should tell you.

I frickin' love superheroes. But this series is really great because despite being a mix of superheroism and politics, the West Wing aspects of it are more interesting to me than most of the super stuff. The guy trying to get him to go back to being The Great Machine is often a nuisance because instead of him I want that sweet, sweet political drama. I am sure this won't necessarily stay this way, but when you're book can tow the balance this well I think it's an excellent sign.

I think Li Mei "won" that, but it was a ruse. Everything else was just more violence.

Then the reboot. Liu Kang won the first and second tournaments.

Theoretically, they could pretend it's a matter of principle and cancel GotG 3 entirely and say that they'd rather not make hundreds of millions of dollars as a statement but they're not even smart enough to do that.

This is just general wrestling chat, but have we ever discussed what the logic behind finishing moves is?

Especially because a lot of finishers are just moves other people do, so how do we justify some things being stronger? In kayfabe, is it supposed to be a question of technique, or the sheer novelty knocks their opponent out, or what?

It's honestly impossible to tell if you're just pretending to be this dumb.

"You can't do this forever" =/= "You can't do this ever again". To interpret it this way, you would need to lack even the most basic degree of comprehension or have some ulterior motive for pretending to.

I love a good battle but also didn't mind the tournament battles being relatively short in comparison. It's like wrestling: some matches are going to have a clear winner and you have some squashes to demonstrate that point. But then you have standouts like Ohchaco vs Bakugo which should have a clear winner but she does such an impressive job that even her loss makes her look great. It's fair to say not all of is "entertainment" per se, but from a meta level I find it entertaining because it's (hopefully) character work.

I used to see this a lot on the Homestuck fandom. People had quotas of character development they believed all the 20-30 characters should get, and got annoyed when they didn't at the end.

I mean you're right. My quota was 1 character getting 1 bit of character development, and it didn't happen, so I was disappointed. I can see how unfair that is now.

I don't care at all if you like the show. It's when you make obviously false claims like this that you demonstrate your ignorance.

Because what in fact happened was two of the major characters got some development, All Might confronted his limitations and weakened himself again, Deku realized more and more that he needs to gain better control of his power and not rely on Recovery Girl or anyone else. Meanwhile, the entire cast got relatively minor development in that the students now understand the world they've gotten involved in in a way they didn't before, the villains make very clear moves which were unprecedented before, and the audience has a better expectation of the stakes, but you're claiming "nothing happened" because it wasn't quite the level you desired. You can be disappointed if you want, that's your deal, but that's an altogether different situation than "nothing happened because it didn't move as quickly as I want." And that's not even an unusual stance. One of the biggest criticisms of the show (and especially the first season) is the pacing.

You are crying cuz not EVERYTHING happened. And that's fine, but at least be honest with yourself. To claim otherwise is to either be too dumb to understand what did actually happen or too ignorant to care. You'll notice that no one bothered with the numerous other people in the same topic who had negative things to say because they didn't say stuff that was demonstrably false, because criticism is good and even encouraged so long as it's not stupid. If you end up watching the sports festival and not liking it, do your thing no one cares, if you still claim nothing happened it's time to admit that you're the problem (I mean, it already is but you get it).

Sorry, I know I'm late to the party.

At the end is at least a time to know you've been disappointed, even if your standards were too high. A very minute amount of the way through something you know is going to last a while and isn't over is just dumb.

If quirks appeared so long ago, I wager there was a lot of clanning up and stuff happening early on, but it's also possible that and Tsu's or Hagakure's parents are distantly related but not really inbred because it's been generations since. Especially if some quirks are more dominant or it's possible to pick one up from down your family line. We'd have to know more to really know more.

People being healed instantly is admittedly a pretty big issue in shonen. Even One Piece has had the "this move will shorten my life span" and completely handwaved that significance within a year.

Oh, definitely. I was initially annoyed by Recovery Girl's existence myself. She removes a lot of the stakes if we're expecting Deku to learn anything.

But it takes a special breed of ignorance to see thirteen episodes of a lengthy show and then be upset that every plot point hasn't been addressed yet, especially when those same desirable plot points are being very clearly set up.
