Depending on the timeframe, you would hear varying levels of physical pain in his voice due to his mouth rotting out and being replaced with all manner of attempts at what constituted dentistry back then, including jagged metal, animal bones, and slave teeth.

We often look back to the Civil war as a nightmare medicinally but its interesting to wonder how bad it had to be even before that. Civil War medicine was probably utopian compared to even a hundred years prior, much less a thousand, or several thousand.

Just listen to his recording.

That's not him. Recorded voice wasn't invented until 12 years after he got shot.

And his voice. And everything about these little intricacies of history shitty technology robbed us of.

Its like hearing Hitler's natural speaking voice. Its fascinating as hell and if time travel ever is a thing that's probably whats going to fascinate the masses. (if the masses are permitted to make trips to observe).

And, on voices of historical figures, it'd be nice to see the question of Lincolns voice settled. What is meant by the description of his voice as "high pitched"? Is it almost girly? Or is it just not the almost stereo-typically deep, James Earl Jones like tones we might associate with him? WHo knows!

Anyone ever listen to the voices of the Presidents going back to when we could record people? The early ones sound pretty strange, even despite the crappy audio.

Last I heard of the NASA plan was a few years ago, but we would probably know the asteroid is coming years or decades in advance. The plan would then be to send a big satellite out to sit next to the asteroid for years, slowly altering the path via gravitational pull between the asteroid and satellite. Altering the path by just a tiny fraction of a degree when it is travelling that huge distance would cause it to miss.

This. But in a short term emergency the best course would be successive nuking. Blast it apart and keep blasting each fragment until theyre small enough to uust burn in the atmosphere.

May end up irradiating most of the planet but that can be dealt with somewhat. Cant really recover if an Armageddon type asteroid is 18 days away.

Homelessness is not the same thing as houselessness, and this is a distinction thats slowly gaining acceptance despite that it is not well known. Even less known is the concept of psychological homelesssness (p. homeless), a condition that is very similar to (and often caused by) PTSD. Most homeless people (houseless and p. homeless alike) suffer from this condition.

The condition has a lot of symptoms, but they can be generalized thusly: one can be in their own house, and in their own bed, and still they may be compelled to say "I want to go home." Because of this, solving the social issue of homelessness is a lot less simple than relying on charity. While the economic aspects of being houseless are things that need to be solved for the individual as well, it does nothing to really deal with what causes the condition. Moreover, it does nothing to prevent recidivism. Without a strong emotional base and solid, comitted support from trustworthy "others", regression is likely.

Charity doesnt help with this. And in a lot of ways it can exacerbate it. If a homeless person has already developed a certain routine of spending, then straight money will simply feed into that routine. The same effect can be observed in other forms of charity like free food, shelter, clothing, etc. Very seldom is a homeless person going to utilize charity as a jumping off point to start recovering from houselessness. Because again, charity does nothing to address the psychological issues that underly the condition. Indeed, one might say that charity makes it okay to be homeless, and that is not an effective means to resolve it.

From the psychological perspective meanwhile, there are other issues with the simple acts of charity. For those that engage in rough sleep, such as literally sleeping in a cardboard box or living out of a vehicle, to suggest that they must leave these "domiciles" is likely to invoke a negative reaction. For these types, the cardboard box is the closest thing to a home, and likely the closest thing theyve had to a home for years. Asking them to leave is similar to asking them to relive the initial shock of becoming houseless.

Touching back on recidivism, it is very easy for someone who is p. homeless to fall off the wagon so to speak. Much like those recovering from drug addiction, the homeless person needs a strong emotional base and as much support as possible to not just reach a point where they they can no longer be houseless, but also to reach the critical point if no longer being homeless. Without this support, and especially without the emotional base, the moment the homeless person experiences hardship, the immediate reaction will likely be a regress to houselessness.

Why this is is naturally due to the psychological condition, but it is an economic one as well. For those that can and do seek out steady jobs (most homeless do), houselessness presents a relatively easy lifestyle. Depending on bills they have, which wont be many, they will almost always have cash on hand. Getting an apartment or even renting a room will take this away. Once again, without proper support, this will not be taken lightly and will be a primary logical reason that they will regress if the opportunity presents itself.

The homeless are best helped by "re-homing" them. Charity is a part of this, but it can only be a small part to make up deficiencies and meet critical needs (Obviously give the starving homeless man a sandwich). Re-Homing is about building the person up and giving them back a sense of home that is lost in the p. homeless. This requires a serious, potentially multi-year committment from those that seek to help, and the ability to foster and maintain a great deal of trust. Without these things, a homeless person is lost. No matter how of your spare change you fork over to them.

(Written by me, a p. homeless person who has been houseless for multiple years and is slowly recovering)

Some facts:

Ulfric is a turd. His cause isn't. Further, despite his own admission that he took advantage of the High King (whatever his name was), in his duel no rules were put in place. Both parties are at fault, Ulfric for abusing his own power and the High King for being a naive twit thinking he could successfully duel someone like Ulfric to the death.

The Empire is dead. The false Empire that took its place isn't worth saving, as it capitulated to an enemy it had all but destroyed. Read the Great War in-game. It describes how, after the Dominion invaded Cyrodiil, the remaining legions were able to route and/or outright destroy every single Dominion soldier in the province. Meanwhile, Hammerfel single-handedly fought back the invasion on their front for years after the war in Cyrodiil ended, proving that the Dominion could not have kept a war going in either province. While it would not have been likely that the Empire could have then counter struck against the Dominion at that time, they were more than able to hold their own.

And then the new regime decided it was prudent to cede victory to the Dominion during the peace talks, giving in to their demands. All justified because of the war weary Cyrodiilic people, who instead of reveling in victory gave up everything for "peace", to the detriment of literally the entirety of Tamriel.

A strong, independent Skyrim is healthier for Tamriel as a whole than a pacified one. Cyrodiil lost the will to fight, Hammerfel, the Black Marsh, and Elsweyr are doing their own thing now, and of course Morrowind is practically destroyed. In an eventual conflict with the Dominion, you'll need as many solid, stable allies as you can get. A pacified Skyrim under a weak Empire is not a solid ally.

Exodus is a perfectly acceptable resolution for the individual to deal with a crappy leader, but it does nothing for the majority of society that does not approve of Trump. If everyone who doesn't like, disagrees with, or indeed outright hates him left, one would be left wondering why the country suddenly stopped working.

More importantly, this is a republic. People in power are not immune to criticism by merit of their position. If anything, their position calls for a higher degree of criticism than any other position of power in this country.

So today i had my exam for contacts, and the doc put a trial pair in. Felt amazing as i could only just barely tell they were there yet my vision was clearer than ever.

But, as you can imagine, came the nightmare of taking them out. I dont have a problem touching my eye in the way i need to, but my problem was that I just cannot seem to grip the bastards right to do the pinch thing.

And even when I managed to get the left one out, i didnt even realize until the rep pointed it out on my finger. The right one was a lot more stubborn however. From what they kept telling me i was all in the right position but when I tried to grab it either my eye would roll around and screw it up or id literally just be grabbing at it and nothing happens.

What frustrates me though is that im pretty confident this is because I cant feel the thing in my fingers, so for all i know i was grabbing it but couldnt tell. Mirror doesnt help because my hands are in the way and i cant move around in such a way that doesnt move my eye at the same time.

Everything ive read says im not going to feel anything hut then idk how im supposed to learn when ive got it if theres nothing to go off of
