With the sale....WITH IT.....the mattress was $560 or so...........

Yeah, it was normally over 1k without a sale....

When Sears Canada closed down, there were a number of stories of people finding that sale items had new, higher price stickers placed over the old ones so that the alleged discount just brought the price back down to what it was originally. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they inflated their mattress prices a bit before applying that 50% discount.

This is a common tactic for large sales. Even amazon does it. Pretty much every place that closes down does it. Its really not worth going to a closing sale until its multiple weeks in, and by then youll be scraping to find anything good.

This is so true. And even then, I carefully compare prices to Amazon to make sure the sale price is actually decent, and also brace that not much will be left when you go during when the greater discounts are occurring. It's totally stupid to buy things, during the first few weeks of a store's liquidation sale.

Less drunk driving incidents when the age is 21 vs. 18:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20497803

Not that I agree with it anyways, but unless you can change that it is going to remain 21.

Yep, the push by MADD years ago back in the 70s and 80s, is why all states today have the drinking age at 21. It's stupid and I'd rather have that age at 18, but that's just my opinion. Puerto Rico interestingly enough for a US territory, still has their drinking age at 18. That really surprised me, when once I randomly looked that up on wikipedia.

Assuming you've never been, if you're going with a group, do not leave your group. Chicago is not safe for anybody unfamiliar with it.

It's not detroit or st. louis

Honestly in all those cities, it depends where you are. The worst crime in all of those cities are usually contained to areas that tourists usually don't go to, and are easy to avoid. And as long as you aren't doing anything stupid or looking for trouble, you'll likely never be a victim of crime in any of those cities. For Chicago(where I live), the worst of the crime is limited to parts of the city most don't go to.

The crime issue is overblown in each of those cities, IMO. As long as you do your research on each of those cities before traveling, you will be fine. Yes even in Detroit and Saint Louis, I felt fine visiting those cities.

Layovers count too.

California, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Ohio. Think that's about it. 5 of those were just layovers but I did spend the night at Chicago for the layover. If I ever get a chance to go back I'd definitely go get a deep dish pizza and a Chicago style hot dog.

I'd also try an Italian Beef sandwich at least once, as well next time you're in Chicago.

Anyway, I'm up to 30 states plus DC, and hope to increase that number at some point. Mostly states in the Midwest and South, with a smaller amount in the west as well and a handful in the northeast. I hope to get to the other 20 I hadn't been to, someday. And I was considering a possible trip to see Glacier National Park, which'd finally check off another state I hadn't been to yet(Montana). Possibly also cross the border to Waterton National Park in Canada? (which is basically an extension of Glacier NP, but on the Canada side) Also have been to Ontario and Quebec in Canada, Mexico once(as part of a church work camp trip), and Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Netherlands overseas. So many more places I'd love to visit someday, especially Japan, Spain, and Germany to name a few places.
