I loved actually hunting for the monsters in the old PS2 game, not knowing where you were going to come across it. The scoutflies are more a product of the maps in World becoming considerably more complex than in previous games. There is considerably more layers and verticality to the maps which makes it much, much easier for monsters to hide. In older games you could basically go into a zone, quickly scan it to see if the monster was there and then move to the next one. That isn't nearly as viable this time around. Also all the environments have considerably more going on so the scoutflies highlighting some gathering spots helps considerably. And as previously mentioned, you scoutflies aren't perfect.
