the idea of "addict for life" just means that we cannot ever use our DoC responsibly. once that line of casual vs addictive use has been crossed there's (almost never) no going back

I feel like this is a pragmatic and in some cases probably necessary way to view things - that said before I was born my dad kicked his alcoholism after an ultimatum from my mom, and afterwards was able to have a drink every once in a while without it becoming a problem

So perhaps situational/environmental changes can make a difference in these cases

Just moved overseas so I only brought the essentials:

zb2BG9m

Guitar is a Fresher Leo Nine, lesser known Japanese company that made Les Pauls during the lawsuit era. Really well made, I like it more than Gibsons I've played actually and it was a fraction of the price. Has a DiMarzio DP103 neck and Gibson 57 classic in the bridge with a reverse phase switch

Amp is a Vox Adio Air GT portable amp. Really good one, though I actually have a Yamaha THR back home that I prefer but didn't want to travel with it

Pedals I brought are a catalinbread dirty little secret and belle epoch deluxe, red witch moon phaser, and TC hall of fame reverb. Would like to find a cheap wah pedal next

What the fuck happened

Ah it's just the way things go man, people change, priorities change, and sometimes you can't relate to the things you used to anymore. This post inspired me to listen to some music from my past as well. I remember hanging with old best friends of mine then; we'd talk about the future and always saw each other there as if we we'd be inseparable. In recent years though a huge distance has grown between us. I seldom see them anymore, our history is pretty much all we share and when I do hang it's out of of a sense of duty from that, but even that's fading. And actually, as that's happening I've recently been reconnecting and getting close with an older friend who I had grown apart from, so it's not impossible for things to reconverge at a different time.

But for now, as long as they're happy just be happy for them. It's good to reflect on these memories and always beautiful to have art that you can associate them with, but nothing to do now except pick up, be receptive to new things, and make new memories. Que sera sera

I don't know your size, arm length, etc. but the Alan Thrall deadlift set up video never helped me because my arms were too short, seriously. I have to sit back quite a bit in my deadlift because I can't flatten my back, while keeping my hips up and grabbing the bar because my arms are too short.

Sitting back is fine, but maybe sumo would be worth trying too.

Yeah, it's important to keep in mind that one person's correct form on the deadlift will not necessarily be ideal for another depending on their body proportions and the leverages they work with

It's not some magical thing that just works. It's something that takes a lot of work and compromise that can be incredibly rewarding when it works out.

I agree, over the long term those are necessary parts of a relationship, but at the same time with the right person there's a foundational chemistry that should add to the "magical" element

I feel like being in love should make the art surrounding it understandable, one should just keep in mind that a lot of it tends to portray it at its highest points.

But yeah it's also possible different people are going to feel these things to varying degrees.
