| KingBartz 10/16/18 7:25:39 PM #1 | Earlier this year I picked up both Prototype games on PS4 for the slightly too high price of $9.99 for both. I finally got around to playing them both over the last couple months. The first game was rudimentary and has aged very poorly, but was probably pretty good for its time. I did not bother trying to get the platinum on that because some of the trophies are a ridiculous grind. But I had fun playing it and luckily it's not a very long game. The second game improved over the first in almost every aspect, except the story which is pretty bad. The protagonist is a completely unlikable angry simpleton and I did not care about anyone or anything that was happening. It was still a fun game though and the platinum was pretty easy to get. It feels like a modern open world game which I appreciated after playing the first one. I also have to give it credit, as a AAA game from years ago the main protagonists are a black guy, a latino, and a woman. However, it is very short. The main mission line takes like 5 hours, if that. If I has paid $60 for it I might have been disappointed. For those who aren't familiar, they install a box in your house that tracks your TV viewing habits. I know they give out like gift cards and stuff but it seems like a lot of hassle(having to use their remote to watch tv) and loss of privacy(the box listens to your living room, basically) just for like $100 in free stuff per year. Does anyone here know anyone who has done this? I'm intrigued at the idea of having my TV watching "count," but it could also be a big waste of time. The original game had a bunch of multiplayer trophies that I never bothered to get, but the PS4 version just has the single player trophies and they are earned naturally in a single playthrough on Hard difficulty. Just had to disable vita chambers which anyone should do anyway if you want to game to have any semblance of challenge. This game has aged much better than the first game. The gameplay is much faster and the plasmids are a lot more fun to use. The biggest problem that holds the game back is that the middle third of the game drags while the story stalls and those levels are not very interesting. But I think the finale is much stronger than that of the first game, which struggled after the big dramatic moment with Ryan. The PS4 version comes with Minerva's Den and I am going to try that out next.
