Topic10 days - London, Paris, and Berlin; thoughts?

I would suggest making it 3 days in London, keeping the rest of the journey as it is, but spend a day in Poland too. Easy drive/flight from Germany and it's another one on the list.

Alternatively, from Paris, spend a day in Belgium, and then carry on your trip. I've driven across the UK, France, Belgium, and into Germany in a day easily. Make the most of your time here. And make sure you get a stein and a steak on a stone in Germany.

Thanks all. The controls leave a lot to be desired, but I'll give it another couple of hours. I have nothing planned Saturday evening so I'll give it a few more hours. I'd be disappointed if I'm disappointed.
Edit: I'm barely on chapter 2 so fair enough.

Not trolling. I've put about 10-15 hours in the game so far but I'm really struggling to get into it. It's fun whilst I'm playing it, sure, but it feels like I'm going nowhere and everything's a chore. I can forgive a game for awkward controls, as you learn them. I can forgive a game for being a little slow to begin with, as it'll pick up. I can forgive a game for not really making it clear how combat works, as again, you'll probably learn it.

To those who have played it, does it get better? For reference, I'm here in the story (earlyish):
*moderate spoilers*

Just moved the caravan convoy to the green area after the snow melts, rode into the nearest town where you fight the drunk man mountain, picked up a few side missions along the way. Went hunting for some deer skins but got ambushed by some Driscolls and died.

*end spoilers for this post*

So do things pick up from here? I enjoyed some of the previous missions but it looks like a very long road to get to somewhere I'd be comfortable just cracking on with the game. I played GTA 5 over the last few weeks, first time, and it didn't take long before I understood the premise. RDR2 seems a valley away from RDR, and whilst you can see certain elements of the GTAV engine in the game, it still doesn't feel familiar. Hmm. Any thoughts?

I spend more time doing the sidequests first before doing the main quest.

Currently on a replay of Far Cry 5 and I like the attention to detail of the dialogue changing slightly to say you've liberated x region.

I prefer doing the side quests first to get the character development out of the way. Much more of an impact if, CJayC is killed in the campaign but you've done a few related missions first so you know how much of an impact he had on other characters.

Hoovering.

I'm fine with doing the dishes (get to practice my dance moves while holding china dishes), doing the bed (piece of piss and I get my favourite pillow), and even doing the bathroom (put a hazmat suit on and complain about tampons, but enjoy a crisp fresh shower). I find hoovering so fucking boring.

Hello I do some spannering

I'm not a car mechanic at all. Ask me to replace fuel spray nozzle #7 on engine 3 on an Airbus A380, no problems. Ask me to change the oil and filters in my Subaru, yeah no problems.

In all seriousness if you can't change your wiper blades or pump your tyres up, then think of the mechanic's cost as an idiot tax. For more complicated jobs, unless you're very handy on the tools, then it's best to pay someone who knows what they're doing to make sure the job is done right. Mechanics love beer, and I've managed to get very intensive jobs done by just buying the beers that evening. 50 of pints is nothing compared to the 200 they'd have charged me otherwise.

I used to be a mod. Whilst on the team I formed a bit of a bromance with one of the other mods. The other mods also picked up on it and it was a healthy bit of banter between the mods.

So naturally, one of us visited the other. As it happens, L&T's bromod lives on the other side of the world. I picked him up from the airport, noticed he smelled pretty bad (understandable for two solid days of travelling), so as soon as I got him home I invited him to go away and shower.

He had plans to go exploring my side of the world so I only spent two days with him, but we had a pleasant day of drinks on the riverfront, posh burgers for dinner, and plenty of bro humour. My parents had offered to cook him breakfast on one morning, so we ended up travelling back to their place that evening. After plenty of food we had a little drive out to explore the unseen parts of the country, before he moved on in his travels.

TLDR, I met a fellow mod and it was cool. We had a blast. Lots of food, beer, sights and general abuse towards each other.

Markup on pizza is so high that while they might put you on their shit list (i.e. no deals offered), it'll probably cost them pennies. Last time I read into it I heard pizza had a >600% markup.

TLDR they DGAF.

I always recommend a Madras, and you pick the meat. It's hot enough to give you the spice experience, but not something you'll be crying or waterfalling over.

Tandoori chicken and non-mint lamb kebabs are also worth looking at.

A biryani is a nice catch-all that you can spice up or down accordingly.

I'm a chocolate coloured man and my mum cooks fantastic curries, I can only do mince meat curry. It either tastes like a Dolmio mince or is ballistically spicy such that even I struggle to put it away.

Luigi and Tails

I have an Xperia XZ1 and an iPhone 6S. Also got a Nokia C1 but let's ignore that POS.

I find that for day-to-day stuff the iPhone is a lot better, it's got a much more clever autocorrect function and Siri can work out what you're trying to say if you're somewhere a bit noisy. Comparatively the Android's keyboard is terrible, and Ok Google picks up everybody's voice rather than more accurately trying to pinpoint your own.

However, for more involved actions, the Android wins easily. I want to check the footage from my CCTV camera. Simply pop the SD card out and watch it on my Sony. On a Saturday morning I might decide to lie in bed for an extra half an hour watching videos on YouTube. The speakers are set in stereo adjacent to the screen so the sound quality is perfect. I want to use my phone to charge my watch - just connect the two up and set the charger port to reverse.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

For round-the-house stuff, e.g. the clothes I wouldn't care if I tore while working on a car, either the local supermarket, charity shop, or cheap retailer (Primark etc).

Normally for casual clothes I shop at A&F, Topman, American Eagle, or other respectable brands.

Formal stuff is Saville Row, TM Lewin, M&S, or other posh stuff.

I've noticed that in the US, traffic lights are seen as an inconvenience because you have to pay attention. Can't be taking a selfie on instagram or sipping a mochachocafrappelatte from Starbucks.

Here in the UK, drivers pay more attention. We have mini-drag races at every two-lane red light. You pull up, eye the fucker in the BMW next to you, and as soon as the light goes amber, you side-step the clutch and it's the Fast and Furious all over again, up to the dizzying 30mph limit.

Ali G summed it up perfectly:

(note: the Vs are involved so slightly NSFW in commonwealth countries)
