Conservatives tend to get shit on enough, and everybody and their mother has heard the same counters because conservative beliefs are...well, conserved. They don't change much. Whereas with liberals you've got a new flavor of the month complaint about something.

So you can have an "argumentative" alignment and an alignment that more accurately reflects your ideals when you vote. These people would align more center-right in argument but when it comes to voting they're much closer to center.

Like everything, it applies to some opponents and some allies. That's just how things are in a two-party political system. You say "Democrats/liberals" when really you're talking about a certain type of person with a prominent voice within them.
