It's Square Enix's keynote address at E3 2019. The guy on stage has been talking up Tomb Raider DLC, announcing the release date of the last couple Final Fantasy Xbox/Switch ports, announcing another mediocre-looking Tokyo RPG Factory game, giving out a bit more Final Fantasy VII Remake info (but no release date yet), and announces a decent looking Kingdom Hearts III DLC expansion. There's one more "huge" AAA game announcement left (probably NieR 3 but it could be another Octopath-esque Switch exclusive), but before that, the speaker launches into a brief aside about classic Square and Enix games.

Which leads into the announcement of a "Square Enix Classics Collection", a collection of classic Square and Enix SNES games all compiled into one disc/cartridge, for the PS4/Xbox One/Switch. All games have their original graphics/sound, but get bug fixes/translation fixes/translations for the ones not already in English. 10 Squaresoft games, 10 Enix games, here's the list:

Missing; A Pup named Scooby Doo. Probably the most fun incarnation during the Scooby Franchise's wane. Didn't save the brand per se, but bought it some time and doesn't look that dated.

I could see them ditching the Scrappy episodes (some of them at least) or 13 Ghosts for A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. I did want this to be somewhat "realistic", which means at least one controversial omission, and I figured it would be Pup in favor of some of the lesser 1980s shows. I imagine that we'd get 13 Ghosts included because of the presence of the new movie, and unfortunately we HAVE to get Scrappy somewhere.

Pretty sure such a thing already exists for a Scooby-Doo set. Not sure what's all in it, though, since this sounds way more epic and is something worth buying. Because it's Scooby-Doo.

Yeah, they had a box set of the original series packaged like that. Not sure what else they could put this thing in, though! I think it'd be a bigger Mystery Machine, and in the "driver's seat" you'd have little mini-Funkos of Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby.

I can definitely see them saving Deadpool for a REALLY late reveal, like a few weeks before the game's release. He'd obviously be extremely toned down, they'd focus more on his fourth wall breaking aspects than his raunchiness and violence.

First thing I'd do upon buying the game would be to put Deadpool in a fight with Sofia. If they gave each character custom lines for each opponent I'd be in stitches at what Deadpool would say before that fight..

Obviously it wouldn't be CALLED Smash Bros., but you get the idea.

I made three assumptions before starting.

1. Disney sees how successful the Smash Bros. series is and lets the developers go completely nuts on characters. They pour an insane amount of money into the game, allowing for a truly huge roster of 110 total characters. This is a wildest dreams scenario, but it's my wildest dream so I'll allow it.

2. The lead developer is a very savvy person with their finger on the pulse of internet memes and the like, and wants grown adults buying this game.

3. Disney wants this game to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, including little kids. Well, maybe not REALLY little kids, since the game would probably have an E10 rating, but you get the idea.

Netflix has no problem cancelling shows without proper endings if they dont get enough views within a short window of their release.

Dont get your hopes too high until it is confirmed renewed (which generally happens quickly)

This is getting buzz like crazy on Twitter, I have no doubt it's getting the views it needs to get at least another three seasons. After that, I'm not sure, but I can't remember the last time a Netflix show got this much social media engagement and didn't get renewed.

Square Enix should break up into two companies.

One would keep the Squaresoft name and the Japanese IPs (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, NieR, etc.). The other would either be called Enix or would use the old Eidos name and would keep the Western IPs (Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman, Life Is Strange, etc.)

I feel like trying to be a global company is splitting up Square Enix's resources way too much and a split would focus the Japanese side of the company on its old guard IPs.
