Is Scott Morrison kind of in the middle on the axis going from liberal to conservative in the party?

What actually is the reason Australia can't prop up a government for at least a term? Why do ALP and the Lib-Nats always seem to be plagued by infighting? Is it factionalism? Regionalism?

We elect the party and not a specific leader.

If the party thinks the leader is an issue for them they have the option to replace them with someone else. The party has a vote over this decision. Often the challenger works behind the scenes to gradually gain support to take over.

It can't really be that though, because NZ, the UK, Germany, etc. doesn't have it nearly as bad.
