I mean, most of what TC disliked about Gurren Lagann can also apply to Jojo though I'd still recommend to give it a shot.
GL was about being hype and optimistic and not about being grim and edgy like game of thrones or death note or something which seemed to be what TC is looking for. I'd recommend Shinsekai Yori, technolayze, or Fafner.

Probably true. I liked the mech battles in Code Geass and I was expecting Gurren Lagann to be closer to that

Maybe I was just hyped up too much. People have been telling me to watch Gurren Lagann for probably like 8 years and I finally decided to watch it. Kind of like Cowboy Bepop (although that one was still dope as hell)

i disliked the first ~third of the show so much that i dropped it afterwards, then for some reason decided to keep watching months later and loved it, except for the ending

I agree with this for the most part. The second half was pretty solid, ending was pretty wonky but it was okay.

None of the main characters really died aside from Kamina

I thought the plot was fairly predictable.

And sure the characters changed, but I don't think they were properly developed.
Simon was kind of wimpy at first, but after the time jump he was basically a Kamina clone.
Spiral King went from some kind of Disney big bad to a Futurama head a in jar
Rossiu was basically always a douche

And yes there was basically no real conflict, almost every battle was defeated just as fast as it was introduced. There were basically no major setbacks throughout the entire series. Sure new threats were discovered, but they were all defeated within 10 minutes of them popping up.

Sunset is at 5:00. I work until about 6:30 most days so it is completely dark by the time I get off work. Even on weekends there is still limited time to enjoy the outdoors. I feel trapped in my own home.

At least the weather has been pretty mild and stayed in the upper 30s so far. Although I wouldn't mind the cold, I would like to do some ice fishing this year.

There was very little character development, the plot was pretty weak, and the battles were resolved without any real conflict. No one really put up a fight at any point.

I have to say it was quite underwhelming. I didn't realize how corny it was going to be. Almost like it was making fun of other mech anime. Overall I'd give it maybe a 6.5/10

Going to start a new watching a new anime series. Thinking maybe Attack on Titan or something, not really sure.
