I echo How Did This Get Made as it is my go to while I go on runs. I wouldn't say it is a bad movie review podcast as much as it is comedians mocking terrible movies (or sometimes praising them if they get into the so bad its fun category). There is some information about things that went wrong while filming but it is comedy first and foremost.

Like Seph said, Serial season 1 was so well done it helped to popularize the format so I would recommend that as well. The following season wasn't as good and I lost interest.

Hardcore History can be a lot of fun too. According to actual history buffs, the guy running it gets facts wrong a lot and takes apocryphal information as facts, so you may not like it as much since he is definitely not a historian and is more of storyteller. Still good though if you don't take it so seriously.

I can never just sit and listen to podcasts. I get bored. But while I'm running or if I'm working on something like laundry or while I was painting the deck these were all great to have on in the background. Your mileage may vary.

After watching it, it makes sense to change it this way. The crux of that song relies on the hyenas being silly, semi-comic relief. By making them more sinister, them shaking their butts and going PLAN PLAN PLAN would seem out of place.

I like the ending in this one more specifically because I feel like the hyenas turn is much more clearly foreshadowed from their very first scene with Scar.

Still not as good as the original yeah but I at least get why they had to change Be Prepared. They were never going to be able to top the original anyway so eh.

I think there are more clever ways to design a game than meta screws, but I do enjoy clever surprises :)

I mean it isn't a bad idea! If you do something like this, you'd want to balance accordingly because:

1) the meta screw is pretty strong
2) you cook in fake claims for two scum right off the bat, which is also quite strong

Even though these aren't "power" roles for scum in the traditional sense they would likely be very strong and would need to be countered in some way.

Really interesting article on how the court has changed in Kavanaughs first year. Some brief bullet points;

1) The court was ever so slightly more liberal this year according to the Martin-Quinn score. Kennedy was always a hard one to place because he was liberal on abortion and gay rights but like nothing else. He scored particularly conservative the past couple of years because there werent a ton of cases about these issues.

2) The new median justice is basically a tie between Kavanaugh and Roberts.

3) Kavanaugh votes as frequently with Gorsuch last sessions as he did with Elena Kagan.

4) There are now what can be considered three swing justices. Roberts and Kavanaugh as mentioned above are basically tied with each other. The strange one though is Gosurch, who seems to distrust the government in basically any and all rulings. He actually sided with the liberals most often in close decisions this term, almost always in a case that involved some sort of criminal defendant.

5) If we can keep counting on Roberts to not change precedent regardless of personal beliefs, the court is likely to be almost entirely unchanged from Kennedys days. The three conservative justices that broke ranks all seem to do so from a different perspective. So we may see a lot of 5-4 rulings going forward but with a different conservative justice depending on the subject.
