Trek doesn't need more action, it needs better writing and more discovery and NO not that abomination show Discovery. Hopefully the Picard show can salvage this resurgence. My favorite by far was DS9 followed by TNG. Its not all lens flares, crap writing, and pew pew pew, that's the problem.

If you're talking about the monster inside the dude in the episode "Conspiracy", first of all, that episode wasn't the last episode of season 1, it was the second last, and second of all, if you think that scene should merit a TV-MA rating, you're a bit delusional.

I don't doubt Quentin Tarantino COULD write a decent Star Trek movie, but the fact that this is being touted as R-rated is concerning. I don't see Star Trek as something like Deadpool, where an R-rating could make it better. Plus I'm not sure Tarantino's style would work for a Star Trek movie.

It doesn't help that they make modern phone backs out of freaking glass. I dropped my Galaxy S9 about 2 feet off the ground before I got my case for it and the back cracked. "Gorilla" glass my ass. Shit would break if a Gorilla sneezed at it.
