I was pulling in $200-300 a week in tips, plus less than minimum wage Was working $6 - $8 (depending on the year) an hour for 16 hours a week. So $500 gross plus tips. Kitchen staff were making $2 more an hour and worked more hours. But yeah. I usually do 15-20% Bad service or buffet is 10%. I think I've only ever left a 0 tip once. Delivery drivers always get 20% (sometimes more if it's bad weather). They only get paid a small amount per delivery: the delivery charge. They have gas to pay for, and deal with the worst kinds of people. I never tip counter service. Ever. I'm even insulted if there's a tip jar, or the POS machine asks if I want to leave one. I mean, aside from cooking, I'm doing all the work and usually standing around waiting for the food to be cooked. Also: fuck places that automatically add a gratuity to the bill. Like fuck off. This pisses me off so much. Oh, and I will tip the person who does my hair cut if s/he just fucking cuts my hair well, and doesn't talk to me. --- If Fortnite is still relevant by this time next year, I will post a vid of me eating a bowl of Alpha-bits Cereal covered in mustard. - June 21, 2018 |
