It was really odd. I don't know what process she used, but maybe you should be wary about that. Don't know how much you value that aspect or if you've been told about it. I know for some trans-women they have a new found sensitivity when they begin hormones, and talks with one I know who got implants she also said she lost a lot of sensitivity and kind of regrets it. Rainbow_Dashing 10/08/19 12:59:42 PM #12 | Oh yeah and if you want to cheat weight through unhealthy means there's tons of ways that are guaranteed to work. You could become bulimic, that works at the cost of your teeth and esophagus. You could use amphetamines that works too, suppress your appetite, but then you're just using drugs and suffering the consequences of that to lose weight. Who knows what happens when you stop taking them, you'll be back to being a fat fuck most likely. Finally, you could get tape worms. YOU CAN EAT ANYTHING, and then there's this worm inside of you that sucks up the calories out so you don't gain weight. WIN WIN! Oh you'll also be shitting worms and feeling stomach aches, BUT HEY YOU LOST WEIGHT WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND! Stomach parasite will forever be with you and never leave you for another, just keep giving them cakes etc and he'll take care of all your weight problems easy peasy. --- |
Topic | Weight loss advice from "health bros" over the years |
Rainbow_Dashing 10/08/19 12:54:12 PM #11 | It really is calories in = calories out. But people don't ACTUALLY count the calories, it's all estimates. They eat their "suggested serving size of 6 tater tots (86g)" that is 175 calories and then log it as 150 because even numbers are better. Then they go weigh themselves and wonder why they weigh more next time they weigh themselves. When you eat "six" tater tots, you aren't eating 86 g. If you weighed it out you could be eating 160g of tater tots despite having 6 heavy ones. 160 g of tater tots is 350 calories despite you eating 6 tater tots. OR You eat 6 tater tots and they weighed 40 grams you log it as 175 but later on you're feeling hungry so you go overboard or not and you suffer feeling hungry despite logging 175 calories the latter is better in the long run but makes you feel miserable and more likely to not log calories, and the first case...well you're fucking yourself over. It does work, but the common thought is "AIN'T NO ONE GOT TIME TO WEIGH EVERY SINGLE THING YOU ATE." In which case, fine go have the time to be a fat fuck. If you're honest and diligent about your diet you will lose weight by counting calories and being under. But most will want to go the way of eating those 6 tater tots or eating "1 hamburger = 600 calories" lol. Then get surprised when it doesn't work and then say calories in = calories out is a fraud. It is, you just aren't counting right. How much you intake vs how much you burn (base metabolism + exercise) is really the crux of weight management. I think the rare case of thyroid gland issues is what bypasses this, but even then I imagine exactly controlling what you put in will lead to results in the long run. --- |

In spanish a lawyer is an avogado, I thought it was weird he was called advogato then I realized it was portugese dur. BUT BUT. There is something crucial about the naming. A lawyer in portugese is Advogado. Wait for it boys, cat in portugese is gato (same as spanish just like how it's similar for spanish for lawyer [avogado]). The cat is called Advogato, like lawyer cat. It's a PUN. These guys are hilarious. I didn't expect to see it on the badge and the article didn't mention it at all, but it's pretty funny. I honestly don't know if it translates in english, but it's similar to saying he's a Pawyer I guess? Pun on a cat's paw and lawyer? But it's a funny pun nonetheless. --- |

Rainbow_Dashing 09/15/19 2:40:28 AM #18 | "Grandmasters in competition are subjected to a constant torrent of mental stress. That stress, in turn, causes their heart rates to increase, which, in turn, forces their bodies to produce more energy to, in turn, produce more oxygen. It is, according to Marcus Raichle, a neurologist at Washington University in St. Louis, and Philip Cryer, a metabolism expert at the school, a vicious, destructive cycle. Meanwhile, players also eat less during tournaments, simply because they don't have the time or the appetite. "The simple explanation is when they're thinking about chess, they're not thinking about food," says Ewan C. McNay, assistant professor of psychology in the behavioral neuroscience program at the University of Albany." There we go boys, case closed. Unless they're doing CO2 measurements on these guys playing these calories burned numbers are pure bullshit. It's not hcess doing it to them, it's them not eating and some stress. --- |

Rainbow_Dashing 09/09/19 8:42:14 PM #5 | Nice job man, are you counting calories strictly, including possibly weighing your food by mass rather than following a general size? http://www.attachmax.com/p/2018/11/11-best-photos-of-pizza-food-label-totinos-pizza-rolls-within-with-pizza-rolls-food-label.jpg Like there it says 6 pizza bites, so you think just slapping six pizza bites on a plate means 210 calories, right? Nope, if you weigh those 6 pizza bites and they end up being 170 grams, you've just had 420 calories. I know it's an exaggeration, but imagine if consistently you're having like 120 grams of pizza bites you're eating 1.5 times more than you thought and logging it, and that might be why you aren't losing weight as expected. You can also be eating 6 pizza bites and it weights 60 and in that case you are not eating as expected, and basically starving yourself for nothing. --- |

Topic | Radio discussed if doctors responsible for opioid crisis |
Rainbow_Dashing 08/27/19 2:57:17 PM #47 | Doctor's are stuck in a battle with people screaming for pain management and a doctor just being unable to tell how much pain they are in. Not to mention with how people go online and rate a doctor and put out bullshit reviews, it becomes significantly easier to just give what people ask for or else suffer the consequences. If you're a good doctor and you don't prescribe, you'll only lose your patients to a doctor who will and you'll just go out of business as you get bombarded with reviews saying that you don't care about your patients and you don't cure anything. The opiod crisis is the same shit as the antibiotic resistance that's developing. Timmy is sniffling, he needs both ANTI VIRAL AND ANTI BIOTICS AT THE SAME TIME. Oh Timmy scraped his knee he needs morphine! Don't give him morphine? I'll go tell all the parents how shit you are and review slam you online etc. It's a losing battle. A doctor really can't tell how much pain you really are in either. I mean obviously if you say you're a 10 and you're pretending to scream you'll probably get it, but if you say you're a 10 and you're wincing a bit, you'll probably get it, and if you're a 10 and making no face? Guess what? You might still get it because you could just be really tolerant of pain, and some people are. Pain is so...subjective. The worst pain for someone in the world could be a scrape if they've never fallen or have gotten hurt, but what are you to say that's not the worst pain? All that matters is the review that the patient writes about you in their survey while they're at the hospital. But then people go around and say doctors are prescribing too much opiods. Lol you caused it with how uneducated you are and thinking how magic pills solve everything. Overweight? I need pills to make me lose weight. A doctor is supposed to always solve any problem immediately is what everyone believes. Nothing takes time to heal, it has to always be NOW. It's absurd. I really recommend people have honest discussions with doctors about what they're taking and why, and if there are always alternatives. All too often for some people, they'd rather take blood pressure medications than lose weight because it's just easier. But then they go around and complain how they have to ALWAYS take these stupid blood pressure pills. People just don't understand...you're alive at this point because you refuse to fix it on your own and the medications let you do that. Same for people with diabetes, amputated legs because they don't take insulin or manage it well. This belief that one medication will solve everything just once and then it is done does not exist. Either fix it while you're resolving it with medication, or deal with the consequences of your actions and take the medications daily. TL;DR: Patient Compliance, Patient Reviews, Administrative Surveys caused all of this. Oh yeah and big pharma, but ehh it's really reviews and how people will seek immediate satisfaction short term than resolving and working it out for the long term. --- |

I made enough chicken alfredo for 2-3 families. Granted it was easier to just make the alfredo myself (and tastier), sometimes you just gotta cheat because the meal prep packages are usually taking advantage of people who don't know what to do. Rainbow_Dashing 08/23/19 9:57:43 PM #29 | thronedfire2 posted... how can someone be HIV+ if the strain isn't detectableYou can still have the virus in you, but thanks to medication, the virus isn't multiplying so crazily to the point that you can infect others. I guess the best comparison is...chicken pox? You can have it, be infectious for a period of time, your body fights back, and then it goes dormant in your nerves to then repop up as shingles. I imagine it's the same case for HIV, you still have it in your white blood cells, they're just not exploding into more viruses like before and infecting your sexual fluids. It's just dormant. As for how they detect it, they use a polymerase chain reaction to determine how many strands of the virus exists, if you can't pcr anything then the load is undetectable. The other way they determine how advanced your HIV is to go to AIDS is how many T-Cells you have. As you know it attacks T-Cells and hijacks the machinery to make more viruses and eventually explodes out of the T-cells killing it. So if you don't have very many T-cells...well you're really kind of fucked and full of virus, and your immune system is fucked too giving you AIDS, of course you still have HIV too in that case, but it has advanced to AIDS at that point. --- |

The Kindle paperwhite is really goodAgreed if all you're going to do is read with it, the paperwhite is amazing, and you can go out and read it in the sun and TURN DOWN THE BRIGHTNESS, because it isn't an led screen. I don't know about the fire tablets but I imagine they're not e-ink like the kindle and do too kindly in the sun. Weight is probably less too, but since I've gotten a paperwhite I've been reading a lot more since I'm not annoyed by pages flopping in the wind, or the book snapping shut when I stand it up, or just being limited to carrying one book. Or twiddling around with the pages with my thumb in the middle because I want to read upside down. Don't have to get those stupid clip on lights to read at night. The side lighting on the kindle is pretty gentle at night too so it won't keep you up all night reading. Get one of those nice cases that can self prop themselves and protect the screen and you can read it sideways or vertically at different angles nicely. Speaking as a lying in bed reader this is a god send. --- |
