Tbh I think it's kinda neat that there are two version of the SW universe. I hope that in the future new stories will release with the Legends label so they don't have to fit in with "canon."

Some Elseworlds stuff could be cool but the galaxy is expansive enough they can pretty much fit any story they want to tell into canon. So, unless you want the return of Luke Starfucker The Planet Smasher or any of that other weird EU stuff I don't see the point.
