This is definitely a great idea. The 3DS mirrors the world for master quest, which makes it a lot better because it it further throws off your memory. Do a 3 heart run too, because with the double damage the game can be more of a challenge

The original Zelda is still fun to play. It's a little bullshit sometimes, but it's an enjoyable experience even if it's flawed.

Link's Awakening was originally very clearly the adventure ALttP Link went on after he finished his mission. But with the remake they didn't want to tie it to a 30 year old game, so they dropped the sequel implications (it's fine to personally view it that way though).

Also, while they feature a different Link, Wind Waker is very explicitly, irrefutably, a sequel to Ocarina of Time. Whether you like to believe in a timeline or not, the entire story of Wind Waker revolves around it following OoT. It's the next chapter in Ganondorf's story from OoT in the way MM is the next chapter of Link's story. Spirit Tracks is the same way, explicitly a sequel to Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass.
